While excavating a cemetery for medieval knights in Spain, archaeologists came across something unexpected: the remains of a woman. Pierced by sharp objects, her bones suggest she fought and died in battle, likely over 800 years ago.

The discovery prompted a flurry of questions about her role in the male-dominated society. Who was she? Why was she buried there? Did she fight alongside the knights?

By analyzing her skeleton, archaeologists shed light on her diet, lifestyle and status, allowing them to venture several hypotheses about her identity, according to a study published May 14 in the journal Scientific Reports.

She may have just been the type of gal you see around male groups sometimes such as biker groups, nutty, brash, annoying, some level of alcoholism, when a guy is drunk she is available for sex, impossible to drive off so she kind of hangs around and tries to make herself useful and stay out of trouble.

Seem to recall a painting of “Custer's Last Stand” wherein Native American women are moving among the wounded soldiers administering the coup de gras. Don't imagine that it was rare for women to be quite violent in their efforts to avenge their lost ones, or scavenge.

Having been “pierced by sharp objects” does not necessarily make her a “deadly warrior”, or even a combatant.

Get with the program dude. Politically Correct archeology is where it is at. She was probably just a victim of war between the Christians and Muslims. The fact she was buried probably means her side won. Otherwise she would have been left to rot on the surface of the land.

What happened in Israel when attacked was much the same. Innocent non combatant women suffered grievous injurys, sexual defilment, mutilation and horrible deaths. Nothing has changed.
