Russia paid for that with the blood of 10s of millions of deaths and the destruction of the western part of the nation. It’s interesting that the USSR was fine with Germany’s expansion and aggression and with the UK fighting Germany alone—until Hitler invaded them. They were never our ‘friend’; we were just fighting a common enemy.

I don’t get that either. In fact I don’t see American might greater than ever. Consider, a non-state, the Houthis, are effectively blocking a major world trade route and we appear to be unable or unwilling to stop them. The alleged leader of the Free World says ‘Don’t!’ and is ignored.

But I think the Nazis won. It wasn’t super obvious in, say, 1947 — but the progression from then to now is pretty blatant. We are in a fascist society. Neither allied combatant wins without the other. Example. RAF loses Battle of Britain. Churchill’s successor sues for peace. There is no way USSR emerges victorious against a Germany with no other fronts to fear. Especially without the supplies of Lend Lease.
