What I do not understand is given 80yrs of nothing but losing wars and failed foreign policy how the US’ might is arguably greater than ever.

Yes, the USSR finally succumbed nearly a half century after WWII. But growing up in the 50s and 60s, it sure didn’t look like the USSR/Communism was losing at all, in fact quite the opposite. The fact that so many in the U.S. were actually sympathetic to world communism didn’t help. Reagan actually said the words, ‘evil empire’ out loud and was roundly criticized for it.

I don’t get that either. In fact I don’t see American might greater than ever. Consider, a non-state, the Houthis, are effectively blocking a major world trade route and we appear to be unable or unwilling to stop them. The alleged leader of the Free World says ‘Don’t!’ and is ignored.
