I with the school on this one, cap and gown is the standard, once you allow exceptions your going to start having to allow drag queens on the stage.

the school decided to honor the three Marines at graduation after the presentation of the colors, while wearing their dress blues. Then the students would change into their gowns and pick up their diplomas.

Fair enough...as long as Marine regulations don’t prohibit the wearing of the gowns over the uniforms.

I guarantee you that if a drag queen wanted on stage it wouldn’t be a problem. It would be welcomed with open arms

Agreed. They are graduating with their high school classmates, not their fellow trainees.

I with the school on this one ...

I agree. This could turn into a "camel's nose under the tent" scenario.

It isn’t called a uniform because they want you to stand out. Swallow your pride for a few hours and wear what everyone else is wearing because it’s a school ceremony, not a military one.

“Marines want to wear their uniform for high school graduation, but their school said no”

“That was until they were told by school officials that they would not be allowed to wear their dress blues unless it was covered by a cap and gown.”

In other words they can wear their uniform, as long as they wear the cap and gown as well, like all the other graduates.

Bowing down to Drag Queens is now basically required by Biden, but I guess the military can still be spit on (as the leaders of their school no doubt did during their earlier days).

I wonder if other countries treat their soldiers the same...

The cap and gown is a formal dress to show achievement.

Earning the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor is on a much higher level of achievement.

As a Marine, I say let them wear the Blues.

An annual event repeated multiple times. From dress blues to American Indians insisting to be able to wear an eagle feather. No to all of it. Stick with the standard or don't attend the proceedings. One size fits all in this case.

Still very proud of their achievement. It eclipses high school graduation.

The Marine thing is separate. This is about graduation and the caps and gowns are for everyone....no exception. You don;t like it....stay home.

They may wear it under the cap and gown can’t they? I see no problem with that.

It's funny: you can always spot the non-Marines out there! Those young men did the lately exceptional thing of completing Boot Camp and volunteering to serve some years to serve their country in one of the toughest of the services. Of course they should be able to wear their newly-earned Dress Blues at their graduation!

It shows the choice they made and the risks they are willing to accept to serve their country.

Anybody with an ounce of patriotism should have allowed them that honor, rather than giving the standard "well, if we make that exception.." BS answer.

Congratulations, Marines!

Marines and Sailors cannot wear their uniform when participating in public speeches, demonstrations, assemblies, interviews, picket lines, marches, rallies, or any public demonstration which may imply service sanction for a cause that furthers “personal” or partisan views on political, “social,” economic or religious issues. So because the only reason listed in the thread is for personal display for their purpose, it is not supposed to be worn.

If they were going to wear the uniform to promote the corps, that could be cleared by probably not to so very young marines that would not be prepared with the experience or training to answer questions or make comments on military matters, theories, or current events that the marines have troops in those slots with the proper answers and comments. And they would be respresenting the Marines and not themselves.

Incorrect of course although this gets dragged out a lot.

No, you do not have to allow pedos to dance across the stage just because you allow people currently enlisted to wear their uniforms.

No, it it not the same thing and we are under no obliged to let you do live sex acts if we allow someone else to sing "God Bless America" or allow human sacrifice if we allow a prayer.

There are restrictions on everything and as long as they are reasonable people are ok with it. What they are not ok with is the perpetual whine of "if we allow...." because it is flat out false.
