Volunteers and Tybee Island officials have spent the past two days cleaning up their beach after wild spring-breakers trashed it over the weekend leaving mounds of litter ready to float into the ocean.
On Saturday, more than 6,000 partiers crowded the small, 3-mile-long island for the annual Orange Crush event and inflicted an estimated $220,000 of costs on the community. The costs include damage and clean-up costs and can be billed to event promoters.
During the boisterous party, which is part of a tradition created by students from Savannah State University more than 30 years ago, attendees left the idyllic beach littered with trash.
A video uploaded to TikTok documented the vast amount of trash that had been strewn along Tybee Island's beach - Georgia's largest public beach.
Other wild videos from the Orange Crush showed massive brawls between attendees. Despite the shocking footage, state officials were quick to say this year's event went 'fairly well.'

Orange Crush Bad
Glad its being cleaned up, but what a bunch of third world slobs.
i wonder how much had washed out to sea?
college kids scream about the environment and then this.
What a shame those slobs do that in the first place, but heartwarming to see all those volunteers cleaning up the mess the slobs made.
I remember walking down the street in Berkeley, CA with a co-worker about 50 years ago. I emptied my paper cup of coffee, put the empty cup on somebody’s car trunk, and walked away. She absolutely lit into me for doing that. That little lesson really stuck with me all these years. That and seeing junk in the back country despited the “Pack it in, pack it out” signs at the parks made me a true anti-litter crusader.
From the looks of the trash on the beach it looks like these so called “College Students” that were “Crushing It” were just too damned STUPID and IRRESPONSIBLE to use a garbage can.
Maybe if they volunteered to clean up the mess Joey Biden will forgive their student loans too.
“Mostly peaceful”...
If I lived there, I’d say don’t come back here any more.
Messy orange people.
>>The costs include damage and clean-up costs and can be billed to event promoters.
The “volunteers” should have been paid at least minimum wage. These promoters don’t deserve free labor.
I don’t see any garbage cans in any of the pics.
It was basically a chimpout on the beach.ally

An Orange Crush without at least 3 gangland-style shootings is considered a very dull affair....
Spring break bad, the resultws are the same everywhere regardless of the color of the breakers.
I remember when I was young and our family would go camping or out on a picnic and afterwards my father would say “Police the area.” Dad was a military man and we did not leave a site until it was cleaned up. I would complain “this is not even our trash. These are not our cigarette butts.” He said “pick them up.”
To this day, I still don’t leave trash behind.
Black college kids rarely scream about the environment.
Someone stole them?
What idiot would put a garbage can in the tidal zone? You put them up on the dry part of the beach.
Yep you got me. No Garbage Cans in or near the water. Damn they were either stolen or back near the parking lot.
