It’s called “democracy.”
It may be surprising to us, but there have been thinkersdown through history who didn’t believe democracy is the optimal system of government. Here is a quotation from one of them:

This same writer also penned this:

Let’s get back to the Constitution as written and originally understood and intended by dismantling the 80%+ unconstitutional portion of the federal government and reinstating state sovereignty (beginning with states REFUSING federal funding). Resorting our Free Constitutional Republic.
Then we can address if the 16th, 17th, and 19th Amendments can be overturned with other amendments.
A very serious question as to whether the 16th Amendment was ever ratified.
The SCOTUS ruled that it's unconstitutional for the Biden Administration to pay off all the student loans. Guess what? He's doing it anyway. Just not all at once.
I fear there are far, far too many ignorant, selfish, greedy, criminal, mentally ill, corrupt, degenerate, communist people in this country for long term survival of the ship of state. Were it otherwise, there would have been no presidents Obama and Biden.

My proposal is that in order to vote, you have to serve in the military for five years.
Interesting coincidence that the 16th and 17th amendments were ratified in 1913, same time as the creation of the Federal Reserve. IMO, the beginning of the end.
A true government democracy is nothing but mob rule. The Democrat Party works to get a democracy here vs a republic because they think they can deceive enough idiots and imported third-world slags here into endorsing Democrat candidates into voting for them. Think French Revolution.....
To eventually get back to the Constitution as written requires repeal of the 17A.
Since the Constitution acts upon both the people and the States, simple republican theory demands that both have a seat at the legislative table.
The 17A was a foolish, horrid and damaging cut-and-paste that must go.

Since every state legislator & state grandee can see themselves in that Senate chair there should be plenty of competition for the seat. However, I would not disagree with a two consecutive term limit. A decade plus should be plenty for anybody!

Ackchually - if you read your own article - it says exactly what I said -

Deadlock, corruption and political forces at the state level -
IE entrenched political power structures.
Now the flaw to the argument is if the progressives literally had faith that the people would vote themselves liberty at the federal level with different senators then why didn’t they have faith in the people voting liberty in their state governments?
In a free country people can elected the folks they want to elect. It’s one of the reasons our FBI needs to get off thier butts and seed voter rolls with fake names to make sure fraud is NOT happening. That people are NOT BEING VOTED who didn’t show up to vote.
May I suggest those precincts around the country that routinely turn in their ballot boxes after 10:30 at night in tight races. That’s where the fraud happens. They wait to get the count so not too many or to few ballots are stuffed.

Yes, before the 17A, the source for senators was the state legislatures. Every senator had to look over his shoulder to be sure he didn’t often cross the sense of his state legislature back home.
But since 1913 the senatorial farm team is the House of Reps. Former Reps bring their attitudes and experiences to the Senate. Consider recently when Pelosi ran the House, there was zero difference between her public policies and Chuckie Schumer’s. They often did joint pressers together. The Senate is an institution without the Framers’ purpose behind them
The people have representation in the House. Why duplicate representation in the Senate?
As for term limits.
Percentage of Senators with >16 Year’s Tenure:
1819 – 1821: 1%
1915- 1917: 5%
1995-1996: 14%
2017-2019: 20%
My take on this is always that a Republic is based on the "rule of law"; a democracy is 3 wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner.
John Adams said, “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
Metaphorically speaking, we’re the Titanic. After, it hit the iceberg.
We can rearrange the deck chairs, ask the band to play a favorite song, put on our life jackets....
However, nothing we can do at this point is going to make a difference in the end.
But if one still believes that voting will change anything at this point, then use every means available.
Lincoln was wrong, it has never been "government of the people, by the people, for the people".
It's always been control of the people, by the rich and powerful, for the rich and powerful.
