Tesla plans new world’s largest Supercharger with an impressive 200 stalls [guess where]

Tesla has unveiled plans for a new world’s largest Supercharger station, with an impressive 200 stalls in Yeehaw Junction, Florida.

It was just over a month ago that we learned that Tesla planned a new world’s largest Supercharger station – a new 164-stall station in California.

Now, Tesla is already planning to beat that and by a significant margin.

Tesla has now filed for a new mega Supercharger station in Florida with an astonishing 200 stalls:

Yeehaw Junction is located along 3 highways connecting south and central Florida as well as the coast. It makes the site strategically located for a charging station and Tesla is investing big on it.

Currently, the location only has a truck stop with a Dunkin and Subway. It will be interesting to see if the massive Supercharger station will help bring more amenities to the location or if Tesla deploys its own, which it has been doing at a few bigger locations lately.

Electrek’s Take This is beautiful to see. The infrastructure is obviously a big part of the solution to accelerate EV adoption and Tesla has been on top of the problem for a while.

There have been concerns as Tesla opens up the Supercharger network to all other EVs, which will put a lot more stress on the network, but it is nice to see Tesla investing in much bigger charging stations in anticipation of the increased usage.

Tesla is also planning to add pull-through stalls at its new stations, 8 stalls in this case, to support vehicles with trailers as EVs become bigger and more capable of towing.

All good stuff.

The town will have more chargers than residents. Where will all the power come from?

Might be a good idea to invest in Generators for the starting stations.

Yeehaw Junction, Florida is the halfway point for the Florida Turnpike to Miami. It makes sense since this is a controlled roadway with really only a few gasoline stations in government areas of food, gas, bathrooms… etc. Superchargers would make logic since the alternative is to drive a long way into major cities for recharging.

The H3 tunnel through Oahu has massive fans in case of a fire. There is not enough electricity to power the fans and the city of Honolulu. So when they test the fans the power goes out in Honolulu. Add thousands of electric cars to the grid...

Do they even have 200 cars in Yeehaw Junction?

Still one stoplight? is that little truck stop just west of it still there.

Fond memories. Can’t believe it hasn’t been turned into subdivisions and golf courses by now.

I had to research charging availability for a trip to Miami a few months ago. Pretty much nothing reliable in the area - a few third-party station in Naples area and one or two in east coast — but deemed it unfit for wife’s EV trip.

A super-charger there would be useful for SF trips.

Separately, everything I’ve read says that supercharging wears the batteries out faster and is not recommended for regular service.

“Still one stoplight? is that little truck stop just west of it still there.”

I was on the turnpike southbound so I didn’t exit. I haven’t been through YJ in several years so I am not sure but the last time, yep truck stop/gas convenience store right after the light causes all kinds of backups if I remember.

This is about 25-30 miles dead west of me. There is a huge solar plant, and a nuke plant in the area.

At least it will be fairly clean.

One supercharger requires 250kW power. 200 stalls will require 50 MW! Hope there’s a large natural gas power plant nearby.

If two hundred EVs hooked up at once, it would take days to charge them.

Unlike gasoline, electricity isn’t kept in a tank under the chargers.

Yeehaw Junction is on the Florida Toll road. Not US75 or 95. In the middle of the State. It gets some traffic running from Miami to PB to Orlando. A State Rd goes from Vero Beach towards Tampa. There are 3-4 gas stations. The famous Inn is kaput. Not a huge intersection to support 200 bays of chargers - in my opinion. Not even fast-food/Mcdonalds. You can get boiled peanuts and beef jerky there.

No problem, they use massive diesel generators……. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 There is a large supercharger station outside San Francisco which has diesel generators. I think Telsa is waiting for the additional power to be run to that location, but it kind of defeats the whole EV fan boys when they find out evil oil is being used to charge their Telsa. Of course the oil, coal, natural gas power plants that generate the bulk of electricity in the USA don’t count somehow. 🤔

200 public bathroom stalls (in SF or LA) would be more useful to the environment.
