A Pennsylvania man has been arrested on a homicide charge after he burst into his neighbour's home and slaughtered him with a chainsaw in a full Scream movie costume, believing the victim had killed women and children a year ago, police say.
Zak Moyer, dressed in an terrifying all-black costume 'consistent with the 'Scream' movie character' Ghostface, allegedly struck his next-door neighbour, elderly man Edward Whitehead Junior, 59, 'multiple times with a knife and a battery-operated chainsaw', state troopers said.
Court documents revealed Moyer, 30, admitted to stabbing Whitehead in the head, before going back to his own home to watch a movie until the police arrived. Police said the pair got into an argument that day.
According to the criminal complaint, Moyer admitted to hiding the chainsaw he used in the attic, and hiding the knife in the drawer.
Police were called to the gruesome scene at 243 Carbon Street in the small town of Lehighton, in the east of Pennsylvania, at around 3:30pm on Monday.
Emergency responders rushed Whitehead to nearby St. Luke's Carbon County Hospital, having suffered cuts on his right arm, on the right side of his head above his eyebrow, wounds on his hands that were 'consistent with defensive wounds,' and 'a large bleeding wound to the right side of the head,' according to the criminal complaint.
After getting a description of the man who attacked Whitehead, they rushed back to Carbon Street, where they surrounded his house.
State Trooper Anthony Petroski said he and other state police officers were able to get Moyer out peacefully, telling local media: 'There was communications going on between him and troopers on-scene, and eventually he did open the door himself and exit on his own will.'

You mean “Toddler Perkin Amalaraj.”
Anybody burst into my house to “succumb” my butt with a knife and battery powered chain saw they better dress up like Wile E. Coyote or Foghorn Leghorn to make me laugh or their ass is grass.
“>> Every home should have a readily accessable, loaded 12 gauge pump.
... in every room! Plus a spare. And lots of shells. In every room.”
Sounds a bit much. Why not just carry a shotgun on a sling everywhere. :-)
What is with these whippersnappers who think 59 is elderly?
I am reminded of an old Jimmy Hatlo’s THEY’LL DO IT EVERY TIME in which a young couple are watching TV and on comes an OLD MAN at 50 years of age, with beard and a cane, and mentions “I am 50 years old!”. This young couple realizes THEY are also 50 years old.
Like ME watching a movie on Turner CLASSIC Movies that I saw a few weeks ago on HBO. Then realizing it was on HBO 40 years ago when I saw it, not a few weeks ago.
Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
The year before the Coup-flu I attended my undergrad institution’s alumni reunion for the free food and beer.
The barely twenty-something bartender handed my brewski saying “here you go, Pops”.
I was fifty nine at the time.
I wanted to Pop him!
Indeed.
Meth-it’s a hellofa drug.
I’m 60
WTF is this elderly thing everyone is talking about?
I feel fine, no wrinkles, most of my hair is intact but, I am supposedly eligible for discounts at restaurants?
Stupid....
I feel with my hands and fingers so, there’s that....

I live in one of the townships surrounding Lehighton, I have a Lehighton mailing address. First allow me to say that Lehighton and Carbon County overall is conservative/republican and it’s actually in most areas a nice place. My kids went to Lehighton High School and it was considerably more “law and order” compared to the schools that they attended when we lived in NJ.
The part of Lehighton Boro where this took place consists of dense twin homes, most are a century or more old, are in need of repair and even things such as off street parking is rare. The cost of living here is low in comparison, drug usage is a problem. While I don’t know any of the parties involved in this particular incident, I’m sure I will get some information as time goes on. My guess is both parties have a certain addiction element to them and a lack of activity to keep one entertained and because the homes are so close together squabbles are not that uncommon.
One of the negatives of this area is many are disadvantaged economically and have no intention of ever improving thier situation. Lehighton has a population of less than 5000, the entire county (Carbon County) has a population of less than 70K. It is situated about 100 miles directly west of NYC but totally opposite in terms of everything. Carbon County is one of the 5 counties that make up the Pocono Mountains. The Boro of Jim Thorpe is the county seat, it is about 6 miles from Lehighton. The western portion of the county is scarred from the old coal mining industry which has seen better days. Having said that some of those old patch towns are actually well maintained.
It’s comforting to know that the killer used a battery-powered chainsaw so he wouldn’t be contributing to global warming.
“After getting a description of the man who attacked Whitehead, they rushed back to Carbon Street, where they surrounded his house.”
So the police knew exactly where “Ghostface” lived?
BUT, Did the guy kill women and children?
Makes all the difference.
Thanks. Even though I’m from SCentral PA and have been to Jim Thorpe etc it is always good to get some local flavor of involved communities. Most of America is in decline thanks to an overabundance of inept corrupt leadership, declining family values, that put woke and greed of a few and outside influence that purposely put our USA on back burner. Ah and cheap 3rd world labor whether it be in 1800s or in 2024 doesn’t always make better countries. It does tend to make some politicians and wealthy better off.
with a che tattoo?
is this the killer?
