Authority is the 'moral high ground'? Wife of killer Kenneth Eugene Smith 'cried out' during his historic 22-minute-long nitrogen execution - which witness described as 'horrific' as he thrashed and 'convulsed' on gurney.
Since I was a small kid, when capital punishment was still legal in the UK, I have felt it was sick and ridiculous to say killing is wrong and so we are killing you for killing. It's mentally deranged.
But doing it this way means that those who sanctioned it should be certified.

This is not an eye for an eye, this convicted murderer was a paid murderer, that was well past the concept of a wrong for a wrong, he proved his utter contempt for life by exchanging someone else’s life for dollars.
It is moral blindness to toss around they eye for an eye concept, his debt and the risk he posed (even locked in prison, what if he escaped? what if other convicted individuals near him are threatened?) was way past equal retribution.
He proved he was a threat to society at such a level that the death penalty was a reasonable option, not as revenge, but to prevent any chance of him ever murdering again.
This is a very good idea.
William F. Buckley was arguing the death penalty with some liberal who insisted that it wasn’t a deterrent to crime. Buckley told the story of two thugs that had their way with a nun and killed her and a priest in bad old days New York. The church was attended by several members of the mafia, who promptly put out contracts on both of them.
They ran to the police and begged for special protection. They knew there would be no fancy lawyers and courts and appeals if the mob caught them.
I believe that those closest to the victim should decide. No one else. What we are doing isn’t working and hasn’t since the Warren Court.
An execution is not “punishment”.
An execution is carried out to permanently protect society from any further harm which could be inflicted upon it by a dangerous human being. Asitshouldbe.
...that is all

I prefer dropping them off into shark infested waters and moving on. For lesser sentences, drop them off somewhere on the Aleutian Islands with an invitation to walk/swim home. The degree of the crime dictate the mile marker where they’re dropped off.
Exicutions should be painful, slow and public. They are the ultimate punishment. They should be carried out soon after conviction.
The punishment should fit the crime.
The PURPOSE of punishment is to deter crime, by the punishment being so severe that you choose not to commit the crime in the first place.
With murder, the victim is deprived of their life. The punishment for that must be that you forfeit your own if you’re caught.
Life without parole, is not a sufficient deterrent. The key word is “Life”.
Both the death penalties and baton armed cops are necessary for America to return to being a land of the free and the home of the brave.
The societal fear of being called barbarous must be overcome and the society permanently relieved of criminals. Cops must be free to beat the hell out of an arrestee intent on harming the cop and violating his civil rights while resisting arrest. Resisting earns the right o be beaten with a night stick. A distraught defense lawyer claiming police brutality must be beaten into submission as well.
David, he was 22 when he killed that woman for money.
He was 46 when they gassed him.
He spent more than half his existence on this Earth in a 6x10 cell with one hour a day for exercise in a solitary court with no one else inside.
You think that keeping him caged like an animal is humane?..............
Many folks say that capital punishment is cruel and unusual.
But shutting someone away in a small cell for 30 years is not.
I do not follow that logic. Both are at the same level.
If you accept the latter, you should also be accepting the former.
Execution has become a code word for what is actually the execution or carrying out the terms of a judicially issued death warrant.
As you have noted, the result of the death warrant is the removal of the individual from society. The death warrant in effect says the convicted and sentenced criminal must be removed from society having forfeited the right to live by committing a criminal act.
Bet if the condemned was a J6 prisoner, the Left would cheer the execution.
I like the 0% recidivism rate.
Everything else doesn’t work as well: electrocution, firing squad, lethal injection, guillotine (abroad), gas chamber, or now nitrogen.

If a heavy enough (and sharp enough) blade is used, isn’t the guillotine pretty darn quick?
Too gruesome
Hanging is still the best way in my opinion. If they brought it back in the UK it would be by hanging for sure
"A reporter also stated that Smith "appeared to shake and writhe on the gurney for at least two minutes at the start of the execution," asking Hamm whether that was "expected" or an indication of "suffering."
"It appeared that, one, Smith was holding his breath for as long as he could..."
The death penalty is clearly constitutionally sound. And Justice Thomas said it best. “The Constitution does not require a pain free death.”
There’s no doubt this creep committed the crime. The real tragedy is that it took so long to send him to Hell.

The death penalty deters serious crimes. Certainly not all but some. I love the time when Ron White, the great comedians (Blue Collar Comedy) said “If you come to Texas and kill somebody we will kill you back. That’s our policy”.
