Trans vets sue government to pay for sex change ops - opening door to $100,000 taxpayer-funded surgeries for 163,000 non-conforming ex-service members

A group of transgender veterans has sued the Department of Veteran Affairs to make them provide and pay for sex-change surgeries on the taxpayer's dime.

The Transgender American Veterans Association (TAVA) wants VA Secretary Denis McDonough to come good on pledges to offer sex-reassignment procedures to former service members.

The campaigners say they are 'essential and lifesaving medical care' for a suicide-prone group that suffers from high rates of depression and psychological distress.

TAVA counts some 163,000 trans veterans. The suit could open the door to tens of thousands of claims for taxpayer-funded ops that cost more than $100,000 for head-to-toe gender reversals.

Transgender veterans have waited far too long for the VA to provide the gender-affirming surgery so many of us need to survive, said TAVA president Rebekka Eshler.

'We hope that this lawsuit will force Secretary McDonough to follow through on what he has been promising us since 2021. We're tired of empty promises. We need care.'

Campaigners said they filed their case on Thursday at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington.

The papers state that sex change procedures are 'often prohibitively expensive' and many trans veterans cannot afford them through private doctors.

Remember Bradley Manning US Army spy whom obamaumao PARDONED! Now Chelsea Manning— who got the VA to pay for tranny surgery and treatment?

The same little queer who showed up for some UNKNOWN reason for the tearing down of the Univ. Of NC/Chapel Hill Civil War Memorial (to ALL grads of UNC, N or South btw) statue on campus since 1905, known as Silent Sam.

What the actual HELL was this little queer “thing” doing there to support cultural MARXISM? On OUR money, no less.

” and if they are still in the military...”

Send them to fight against Iran, if they are not trans now if they are captured by the enemy they will be.

Yes I remember little Bradley and I wonder why no one in his unit has not given him a little blanket party. Even older Vets could do this.

No, Obama ruled that sex change ops have to be funded as medically necessary.

“The campaigners say they are ‘essential and lifesaving medical care’ for a suicide-prone group”

Trans people are 5 times MORE likely to suicide after transitioning when the realize that 1) it didn’t solve their problems, b) that the surgery reduced their ability to have satisfying sex, often to zero and 3) they had made a huge irreversible mistake.

It was unbelievably stupid to allow trans people into the military. They should have had a rule that trans people weren’t allowed in and would receive a Section 8 discharge if they became or annpunced or whatever that they were.

Those operations not only cost so much, going through the whole thing means a loss of over 250 working days per individual.

Not to mention all the additional things, such as having to re-do operations to fix what went wrong previously, the ancillary ops to make the person look more like the opposite sex such as shaving the Adam’s apple, life-long need for hormonal treatment, and treatment for what taking opposite-sex hormones does to the body.

O read about a woman who had bad facial injuries as the result of a car accident. Insurance considered fixing up her scars as cosmetic and would not cover that. This was under a video about some trans guy talking about how he was going to get **another** jaw-shaving surgery which was covered under his insurance because Obama said trans surgery must be considered medically necessary.

I can not describe how I feel about all this.

I do not know the detailed specifics of that case other than what’s in the MSM and that is often not complete or is spun (another source): https://www.stripes.com/veterans/2024-01-25/veterans-affairs-transgender-surgery-lawsuit-12794371.html

This is my opinion (2 points on this topic):

(1) From a former life in federal law enforcement (post military - I know, cliche), I can tell you that one of the biggest problems we face with folks that have totally lost it is that unless they pose an imminent threat to themselves or others, you can’t really do much.

A cop if suspecting an individual is unstable will normally ask in some way if a person is thinking about hurting themselves or others, and normally even if the person is nuts they know enough to say “no.”

So you end up with a lot of outright crazy folks on the streets/under the bridge that are ticking time bombs.

But what is the alternative? Take people in and force medicate them against their will as was done in the past?

(2) The DoD and specifically the Army was flooded by these transgender and others when DADT was lifted in the Obama era (2011): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don%27t_Ask,_Don%27t_Tell_Repeal_Act_of_2010 This person is likely one of these.

This is not Politically Correct, but many of these folks are cluster F#@&s. There is a functional reason why historically they didn’t get a security clearance and were barred from military service. It wasn’t just a societal bias against LGBTQIA, but rooted in functional issues that arise since many of these folks are unstable, HIV/AIDS is an issue and the DoD relies on it’s own service members primarily for it’s blood supply, a lot of these folks are easy targets for recruitment by foreign intel services... I can give many, many examples: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea_Manning

Today, it is more important to pander to everyone’s feelings than actually be able to perform. That began a long time ago (circa 1980s), with the rise of the self esteem movement in the US:

https://www.thecut.com/2017/05/self-esteem-grit-do-they-really-help.html

https://fee.org/articles/what-the-self-esteem-movement-got-disastrously-wrong/

Hurting someones feelings became unacceptable and today you need to affirm their weirdness, tell them that their dysfunction is OK, natural even though it isn’t, genetic even though it isn’t.

I would bet this person is a basket case and pre-Obama would have not been able to enlist.

NO, The Judicial Branch of Government should be required to pay all claims from judgements by the courts that were not properly budgeted for through the normal and customary legislative process beforehand, by Assessing the Income, Tips, Wages and Assets of every Officer of the Court and Judicial Officer in the State.

I’ve never seen as many “masculine-looking” females as I do now, working as techs in medical doctors’ offices. It is bizarre so many are in the healthcare industry. And their attitude is terrible as well.

Why can Taxpayers be forced to fund Elective Surgeries for others?

Oh........that's just another wealth-redistribution scheme to appease a Voter Base.

How about if you're ugly, and "Elective" cosmetic surgery is chosen? Do I get to pay for that, too? Because you're "offended"?

This will never see a courtroom argument. Regime SOP is to advance a position, one must first be sued, then the government will enter a settlement that permits everything they are being sued for.

At least we’re not paying for veterinarians doing that kind of surgery on pets (yet).
