Always refer to them as windmills, don’t use leftist terminology.
To: Red Badger
Maybe it was important to put in ALL of the bolts specified in the drawings.

Nonsense. Next you’ll be insisting they read the installation instructions. If you don’t have leftover parts, you’re not doing it right.

Most failures at least look like it’s possible to figure out the failure mode. This one looks weird...

Metal fatigue? Where is the evidence of that? Are you referring to the tower?
What I’m looking at is a buckled tower that is bent over but still in one piece and a rotor that looks like it has fallen off the end of the shaft with the hub quite a distance away from the top of the tower. If it was rotating when the rotor separated from the tower, there wouldn’t be any blades that look to be relatively undamaged, the hub wouldn’t be so close to the bottom of the tower, and the debris field would not be so isolated (small). Speaking of blades, at the bottom right side of the screen at about the 8 second mark of the video, there looks to be a long strip of fiberglass that no doubt came off of one of the blades. That doesn’t look like it happened after it hit the ground.....
By the way, according to the owner’s website, the wind turbine was constructed in the fall of 2020... this website says it commenced operations in early 2021. https://www.cleburnetimesreview.com/cnhi_network/wind-turbine-collapses-at-wind-farm-in-barton-county/article_f775eb96-10b3-5d2a-b27c-125dc1ec7f28.html
