Meilin Keen was studying for the bar exam and preparing to move to New York City last June when she started throwing up blood.
Keen, 27 years old, learned days later that she has gastric cancer. She postponed the bar exam. Brain fog from chemotherapy made it hard to do her legal work.
Surgeons removed her stomach in December. Keen is coming to terms with all that means for her diet, her health, even her dating life. “That’s a fun icebreaker: I don’t have a stomach anymore,” she said.
Cancer is hitting more young people in the U.S. and around the globe, baffling doctors. Diagnosis rates in the U.S. rose in 2019 to 107.8 cases per 100,000 people under 50, up 12.8% from 95.6 in 2000, federal data show. A study in BMJ Oncology last year reported a sharp global rise in cancers in people under 50, with the highest rates in North America, Australia and Western Europe.

Doctors are racing to figure out what is making them sick, and how to identify young people who are at high risk. They suspect that changes in the way we live—less physical activity, more ultra-processed foods, new toxins—have raised the risk for younger generations.
“The patients are getting younger,” said Dr. Andrea Cercek, who co-directs a program for early-onset gastrointestinal cancer patients at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where Keen was treated. “It’s likely some environmental change, whether it’s something in our food, our medications or something we have not yet identified.”

Or it could be that more people are surviving childhood cancers and then having children who inherit the cancer genes. Cancers in children are often linked to genetics, while cancers in older people are linked to age-related changes in cells, exposures to sunlight and certain carcinogens, etc.
It would be interesting to look at the types of cancers that are increasing.

Right. Because a rate that increased from the year 2000 to the year 2019 is completely related to a vaccine against a disease that hadn’t even shown up yet.
There is no biological mechanism for a vaccine to cause cancer. Especially a vaccine that didn’t even exist at the time the increase in cancer diagnosis rates was documented.
The rise predates Covid vaccines.
It could be related to the great increase in the number of childhood vaccines.
Or obesity. Lack of activity, processed food, low vitamin D.
Use of electronics directly.
Microplastics or environmental chemicals but those would affect all age groups.
HPV or other stealth viruses, not necessarily sexually transmitted. However sexual transmission might explain why young adults are more affected than children or older adults.

That is precisely it. These cancer cases exploding from 2000 to 2019 were a result of thoughts about possible mRNA vax someday that were in the minds of the CDC.
No one has investigated if CDC discussions and thoughts about vax, before there was a vax, might cause this explosion in youthful cases prior to Covid.
I’m sure some wacko soon will produce such a study.
We all know that a certain safe and effective therapy had absolutely nothing to do with the uptick in youth cancer.
So, yeah, the cause certainly is baffling.
We obviously will have to wait for more recent data to get published, although there have been a lot of claims about 'turbo-cancers' appearing after the implementation of the CoVid shots in 2020.
Notwithstanding, increasing the children's vaccine schedule from 12 shots/25 antigens in 1986 to 54 shots/70 antigens in 2019 is pretty extreme. Heck, even 12 shots sounds like a lot for a small child.
I'd like to see the cancer rates published for vaccinated vs unvaccinated. Or, 'mildly vaccinated' (e.g., just having received a few shots) vs 'fully vaccinated'. Too bad the CDC apparently doesn't have any interest in mining and publishing this data.

The increase in cancer rates was noted in 2019. Even the most obtuse of antivax believers can figure out that Covid didn’t exist yet and that the vaccines against Covid were still two years away.
Not that there is any biological mechanism for the activation of the adaptive immune system through exposure to antigens to cause cancer. If that were the case, humans and every other animal that relies on adaptive immunity would have gone extinct hundreds of millions of years ago.
