A New Hampshire town manager - whose gay son died aged 35 - has resigned over 'painful' homophobic comments made by a state senator.
Jim Gleason was the town manager of Littleton, New Hampshire, until he handed in his resignation on Monday citing a 'toxic work environment'.
His resignation followed months of tension in Littleton after a row broke out over three LGBTQ murals in public areas of the town.
State Senator Carrie Gendreau, who sits on the Littleton Select Board, spoke out against the pro-LGBTQ paintings back in August saying they were 'demonic' and adding: 'I don't want that in our town.'
She went on to tell the Boston Globe that she thought homosexuality is an 'abomination'.
Addressing the comments in his resignation letter seen by the Globe, Gleason said: 'This deeply hurt me and my family, as my late son Patrick was gay.'
His son Patrick died from cancer at the age of 35.
He added: 'Carrie never apologized or addressed this issue and continued to use derogatory language like "Queer" in my presence.'
On top of the comments made by Gendreau, in October, a resident went to the town office to protest against a local production of La Cage aux Folles - which stars a gay couple.
Gleason said that while protesting the play, the resident 'said she hoped I was happy Patrick was in hell with the devil where he belonged.'
When approached by the Globe, the resident said the claims were 'bull****' and said: 'He’s just trying to make a big issue out of nothing.'
Gleason had been town manager since March 2021, but said the months of controversy proved too much, forcing him to resign.

Thanks for the sanity. I lived in San Francisco for years, so knew many gay people. One guy man was a friend of mine and we went to church together on Sundays.
I’m a woman.
Why? Cause she correctly labeled depravity?
Gay people, in San Francisco? Naaaah!
I’m a woman, too; a homosexual man I knew was one of the most kind and generous friends I’ve ever had.
I’m sure that the Lord took all of that into account, and I have no fear that my friend is ‘burning in hell’.
Really?
A pretty dang’d unkind and unnecessary sleight to parent who will always feel the weight of the loss of his child and she inflicted more pain
Lose a child and get back to me on how much pain the slightest comment can cause, much less one with the intention of hurting.
Judging people for being “judgmental” has led to the widespread acceptance of abominations. I see the infection here on this thread.
Those who die in a state of unrepented grave sin have rejected Jesus as savior. They do not go to Heaven. There’s only one other option ...
Did this recently deceased, apparently unrepentant sodomite go to Hell? I don’t know, but the odds aren’t good.
Repent, lest you perish likewise. (Luke 13:1–5)
Well, that’s not a nice thing to say. But yes, it’s true. Unrepentant sin will condemn us all to hell.
its practicing homos that will have a tough time along with practicing heteros who are not married before God.
a state issued marriage license to God, is nothing but toilet paper. If you dont honor God with you marriage
Romans 1:18-32
The explosion of LGBT in the past few years is a consequence of idolatry which itself is a consequence of refusing to recognize God as the Creator, and give thanks.
I suspect that his butt hurt resignation is merely a prelude to a massive discrimination lawsuit. Look for it and don’t be surprised when you see it.
“I was not there in that office but I can only figure that man was pushing the gay agenda because his son was.”
Yep, the problem is that this women wouldn’t indulge this father who didn’t bother to properly raise his kid.
A lot of people who refuse to judge others’ souls and refuse to assume the condemnation of others to ‘Hell’, are following the Bible:
1 Samuel 16:7
Matthew 6:14-15
Matthew 7:1-2
Matthew 7:1-2
Luke 6:37
we need more self-righteous going around telling us if we’re going to hell. Saves a lot of time and worry.
Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
What happened here is cruelty. It’s terrible what they did to this town manager under the color of religion. Strained a gnat and swallowed a camel they did. Very sad.
Gleason said that while protesting the play, the resident ‘said she hoped I was happy Patrick was in hell with the devil where he belonged.’”
Is it true?
Or is he lying?
Nobody in this realm knows who is in heaven and who is in hell. None of us is the Judge.
This woman is just rude, she’s lucky the guy didn’t punch her in the face, tbh.
Beam in your own eye, etc.
"He wore a rainbow T-shirt to the meeting where he resigned with the message 'We the people means everyone' emblazoned on it."
Shows he wasn't as broken up about his son as he was pushing an agenda. And yea, homosexuality is an abomination to the Lord.
