Here’s what you need to know, we survived the 2017 solar flare.
To: Robert DeLong
Solar Flares are really like cosmic Russian Roulette.
It all depends of which direction they are pointing when they explode, the position of the Earth in its orbit and the speed of the ejecta....................

Pfff.
My son and I are hoping for a Carrington event. If something like that should happen, we should be able to see the aurora all the way down here in Texas.
Short that, we’re going to have to take a winter vacation in Iceland or winter cruise in Norway. We want to see the aurora.

Yes...”one of these days it will” Since all this is within God’s control, anything could happen “one of these days” & at some point in time it WILL happen, but just keep in mind that God is always in complete control & trust in Him.

Yeah, the claim is that solar flares play a part in the Bermuda Triangle mystery, and that makes sense since it can adversely affect compasses and other equipment, but the world keeps turning, and that was my point. 🙂
It may be deadly to some who are in the wrong place at the wrong time, but the overwhelming majority in the target area never even knew what hit them.
Basically, I'm so tired of fear-mongering. People need to start putting things into a proper prospective. Life is fragile, but not as fragile as they often times try to make it out to be.
To: Red Badger
It’s not if, but when, the next Carrington event happens. It’s not going to be pretty.

It’s not going to be pretty.Especially when everyone finally picks their heads up from looking at their now-useless cell phones.

You probably know that there isn’t really a Bermuda Triangle mystery.

My son and I are hoping for a Carrington event. If something like that should happen, we should be able to see the aurora all the way down here in Texas. You really don't want a Carrington event. There was little electrical infrastructure last time that happened. Today, virtually every building has electrical wiring. Expect widespread fires in buildings.
I live in southeast Idaho. In the 23 years I've been here, we have had one really good auroral display. We get weak ones on a pretty regular basis. Taking a vacation north of the typical "view line" is the best prospect for seeing one live.

Wouldn’t want to be in a ship on its way to Mars right now, that’s for sure. You’d be DOA.

Depends on which direction Mars and the flare are.................

That’s right, same for here, except there’s no magnetic field or 5 mile thick atmosphere to protect you.
