Professor Calls for Dismantling US: 'Greatest Predator Empire' (Minnesota)

A professor at the University of Minnesota (UMN) has sparked backlash online over her comments at a recent teach-in regarding the Israel-Hamas war, during which she said that the "goal" is to "dismantle the settler project that is the United States."

The professor, Dr. Melanie Yazzie, was speaking at a panel event hosted by The Red Nation, a Native American advocacy group "dedicated to the liberation of Native peoples from capitalism and colonialism," according to the group's website. Yazzie is a professor of American Indian Studies at UMN and co-founder of The Red Nation.

Several American universities have been caught in the middle of the growing tensions surrounding Israel's response to the Hamas attacks on October 7. Instances of antisemitism and Islamophobia have increased in recent months across the U.S., and pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli groups have repeatedly clashed on college campuses, leading to the federal government's crackdown on how higher institutions are handling instances of discrimination.

The Red Nation event, titled "From Minnesota to Palestine," took place on December 3, featuring several indigenous American leaders and pro-Palestinian voices who spoke on Native Americans relating to Palestinians in the Israel-Hamas conflict. During panel discussions, Yazzie, a member of the Navajo Nation, spoke about the land-back movement, which advocates for the return of land to the indigenous tribes.

"Land-back is going to happen," Yazzie said in a clip that was shared to X, formerly Twitter, by conservative media outlet Alpha News. "That's going to happen, the indigenous perspective in Turtle Island, and how we also understand was is happening in Palestine."

Turtle Island is a name commonly used by indigenous groups to describe North America.

"And what we really want you to take away tonight ... We're all indigenous people who come from nations that are under occupation by the United States...

Yazzie, Navajo name. Still looking back and longing for the romantic days of the Stone Age.

How the tribes treated each other BEFORE The White Man arrived...And this is just my short list!

So this putz is fomenting insurrection.

According to the corrupt cultural Marxist playbook of two-tiered justice, she should be imprisoned for no less than 20 years - if she was a normal person (aka conservative). As a radicalized commie insurgent she will be praised for her bravery.

This story is really getting old.

He’s right!

But, so is every other nation.

And, so is every other economic system.

Truth is, the Aztecs were exploitive (they crushed the Toltec’s and had slaves), so were the Egyptians, Romans, the feudal system with kings, when the Church more or less had the reigns, the Vikings, Ottomans, former Soviet and present day Chinese hybrid communism... Please show me a non exploitive economic system?

Where these morons fail is to show a viable alternative! Calling our Western political and economic model (at least the way it should be, not the monopolistic and technocratic mess it has become) names and calling for some change, usually some leftist trash idea that has failed, is childish because there is no viable and better alternative.

The question is simply what system has done the best, i.e. created the most wealth and allowed for the greatest freedom for it’s people? I have yet to find anyone that can show me an economic and political system that is better.

Today’s education is full of not so original ideas, by academics selling these reheated 140 year old leftovers, that tasted like $hit even when they were new.

The Sixou had the land,....

I recently sold my mom’s farm near St. Peter,MN

the title’s chain of ownership of the farm read:
First God, then the Indians, then the US government, then a family with the letter B,then my grandfather and his brother. We sold the farm to a family of pork producers.

The USA gave the land to the farmers.

Melanie A. Yazzie was born in 1966 in Ganado, Arizona, United States. She is Navajo of the Áshįįhí (Salt Water Clan), born for Tó Dichʼíinii (Bitter Water Clan). She grew up on the Navajo Nation.

She is a professor and the head of printmaking at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She teaches printmaking courses and travels extensively to Indigenous communities within the United States and abroad. She can always be found through the University of Colorado Art and Art History Department.

In addition to teaching at the Institute of American Indian Arts, the College of Santa Fe, Boise State University, and the University of Arizona, Yazzie has taught at the Pont Aven School of Contemporary Art in France.

I always take my political science cues from people who teach scribbling for a living.

Maybe Antarctica or part of it?
