Red Meat is an ancestral food for every human, including you. But, what if red meat causes diabetes? This would fly in the face of the results of 1000's of carnivores who've used a carnivore diet to reverse type 2 diabetes. And, if it's not true, then what's really going on with studies like this?
A study conducted by unqualified morons is a political paper.
So, sugar is now a health food?................
I’m 85 and my wife is 83.
We are on the Med/Mind/eating program not a diet.
In an average week, we will have red meat 2-3 times for dinner and 2-3 times as leftovers/lunches/snacks.
Our recent lab values done in October showed normal values.
My wife has had the same clothing size for 62 years.
I wear the same size clothes as I did in my early 60’s when I retired.
Current and past family members on both sides are on basically the same diet with a little more red meat per week. They live in the MW and SW where really good steaks are available.
He had the same birthday as Jim Robinson.
That is also our Anniversary date.........Just celebrated 44 years on Friday!..................
Only a buffoon would buy into this nonsense, and anyone who agrees with the conclusions is an unmitigated moron.
The reason to publish this completely ridiculous “study” is the same as usual, which is to try to pry Americans away from eating Beef.
I’ll start believing all this stuff when the White House starts serving, at official state dinners, marinated maggots, grilled grasshoppers, sauteed slime mold and fried fruit flies. Until that time, I’ll be eating meat as humans have done since the first human ate a piece of antelope meat that the lions left behind.
Red meat causes family budget deterioration.
RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS:
MIND and Mediterranean diets linked to fewer signs of Alzheimer’s brain pathology

The MIND and Mediterranean diets — both of which are rich in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, olive oil, beans, and fish — are associated with fewer signs of Alzheimer’s disease in the brains of older adults. Green leafy vegetables in particular were associated with less Alzheimer’s brain pathology. This NIA-funded study, published in Neurology, suggests these diets may help protect the brain from damage caused by Alzheimer’s.
Fruits and vegetables with berries in the center
Primarily plant-based, the MIND (Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay) and Mediterranean diets are rich in nutrients important for brain health. The MIND diet features vegetables, especially green leafy vegetables such as spinach, romaine lettuce and kale; berries over other fruit; and beans, nuts, and one or more weekly servings of fish.
The Mediterranean diet consists of vegetables, fruit, legumes, nuts, and at least three servings of fish each week. Both diets also include olive oil, whole grains, and small amounts of wine; and limit red meat.
.
but then from another study.....
“. cross-sectional data captured from approximately 4,000 older adults participating in the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA), and recently published their findings.
. red meat (beef, pork or lamb) was not directly associated with any markers of inflammation, suggesting that body weight, not red meat, may be the driver of increased systemic inflammation. Of particular interest was the lack of a link between red meat intake and C-reactive protein (CRP), the major inflammatory risk marker of chronic disease.
.” analysis does not support previous observational research associations linking red meat intake and inflammation.”

Human population exploded with farming and the availability of grains, but prior to that isotope evidence suggests that human diet was, at times, virtually carnivorous. The last 5000 years is the anomaly in the greater half-million-year history of our species. And while it has been good for human population as a whole, it hasn’t necessarily been good to us on an individual level.
Our ability to extract more fat and nutrition from prey than other carnivores supercharged the growth of our brains, and contrary to being the smartest humans in world history, our brains are 5-10% smaller than our pre-agarian ancestors.
As to the calories argument, a fat heavy diet is more satisfying than a carbohydrate and grains-based diet. As a result, people on a meat heavy diet that severely restrict or eliminate carbs from their diet can rapidly lose weight. I speak from personal experience on this.
As a middle aged man with a wife and kids I am certainly no more physically active than I was 20 years ago when I was young and single, but my BMI is down to 23 from 28.6 and I feel much more energetic and healthy than then. The major change I made was to cut out sugar, fruits and starchy plant based foods and move to a diet high in natural fats (butter, lard, tallow, and EVOO). I am more rested with less sleep and no longer have acid reflux.
