Ron DeSantis is the better man. But the nomination now belongs to Donald Trump
09/08/2023 | Drew68

Posted on 09/08/2023 9:20:57 PM PDT by Drew68

It is highly unlikely that Governor DeSantis will win the GOP nomination. The recent Wall Street Journal poll has cemented this into my head.

Yet, I'm sticking with DeSantis until he's out of the race, whether that be on Election Day (unlikely) or he ends his campaign during the primaries (as of now, quite likely).

I'm sticking with him because nobody else has the record of conservative accomplishments and stalwart executive leadership that he has repeatedly demonstrated. I look for action, not words.

This being said, Governor DeSantis has showed himself to be poor campaigner. He just can't close the deal. And as much as I enjoyed the victories, I think his "war on woke" has hurt him.

The best chance he has now is to pivot to economic issues, which are Trump's strong points (at least for the first three years of his administration). But Florida has a booming economy as well, with a record $22 billion surplus last year.

This pivot will be a long shot and is unlikely to be successful because he would be going up against President Trump's strongest attributes.

This will be an election on the economy and when gas prices at the pump exceed $6-7/gallon next year (and I believe they will), Trump will remind us all that we were paying under $2/gallon for much of his first term. This is going to be a big selling point. If Trump screwed up everything in 2020, he had a booming economy with plenty of jobs and low interest rates prior to that. This can't be denied.

I am resigning myself to the reality that the primaries are essentially over and Trump will be the GOP nominee. And if he is, I will vote for Trump because at the end of the day, Trump is better than Biden. Hell, Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, Tim Scott, and Vivek Ramaswamy are better than Biden!

It's a shame though. GOP primary voters would rather be led by a cult of personality than a true executive leader with a record of accomplishments. It is what it is though.

I hope Trump can pull it off. His victory will depend on Biden voters staying home.

I hope that Trump can learn from his many mistakes and not repeat them.

I hope Trump can reconcile his disastrous record on COVID.

I hope that Trump can beat back against the myriad of unjust charges that he is currently facing.

Still, Ron DeSantis is the leader that Trump tries to be and that's the truth.

And when he keeps bashing DeSantis with lies, it only shows Trump as the sad, little man that he has become. He should as of now, stop being be this sad, little man.

I hope Trump can rise above this. As of now, he will earn my vote, but he needs to become a better man.

Good point about Alvin Bragg. When I saw a clip of the press conference where that semi-retarded buffoon was announcing his criminal charges against Trump, I speculated that the vast majority of normal people would have been completely turned off by the whole charade.

Heh. Brave questions, well asked. Good take on the whole process.

The ONLY person with "disordered thinking" is you!

I doubt that you have ever even been inside Berdorf's and know less than NOTHING at all about that store. So here's the facts about it.........

Men aren't allowed inside the dressing rooms.

The dressing rooms all have locked door, that lock when the door is closed and ONLY the sales ladies have a key!

No one, not a single person, NOT EVER, picks clothing of ANY type off a rack, carries the items to a dressing room ( the sales lady carry the clothing, no matter what kind of clothing it is !), opens the door themselves, and is NOT accompanied by a sales lady and also a fitter, with a gofer outside, stationed there to get other items.

This is HOW this store has been run forever!

Yes, a sales lady can be asked to leave the room; however, she WILL be standing outside, waiting to hear IF you don't like an item/s and want something else to try on, OR if you will come back some other time to see what new items may have come in, that are more to your taste.

The nearby men's building is run the same way!

Yes, Trump was found "guilty" of something that NEVER happened, by a hand selected NYC jury filled with IDIOTS and MORONS who hate Trump.

BUT IT NEVER HAPPENED !

>> I want four more years of this man’s leadership because we won’t see another one like him for at least a hundred years.

Yep. Exactly.

“They” (including RdS) have words, angles, triangulations, policies, alliances, etc. etc.

President Trump has HEART and SOUL for America. Give me THAT.

Study Churchill (or the many leaders in your Bible) if you want to understand. GOD raises up leaders. Not everyone who fancies themselves a leader is raised up to the job.

Before DeSantis ever declared, you may recall I said he may not declare for 2024, because it’s fairly obvious Trump is on a suicide mission, that is pretty much guaranteed to take the party out this round, one way or another.

But now that DeSantis is in the race, and the voting for just the first state doesn’t even start for several more months, no way am I giving in at this point.

I think several more shoes are yet to drop for Trump, and he’ll do many more crazy things himself before it’s over. I respect him less and less every time I see him. It looks like his wife has left him, his new website is financially kaput, and he looks in poor health as well.

It’s a shame, but when you live your life like rules don’t apply to you, they eventually catch up. Meanwhile, DeSantis is just getting started.

Oh, but the lawyer who is now a governor is good-looing and has nice manners, unlike that rough and battle-worn Trump. As shallow as that sounds, I had that argued a few months ago by a friend of nearly half a century who is a staunch conservative and saw DeSantis as the best chance to beat Biden and the Left. I have not talked to him since DeSantis’s collapse, which I predicted, to his utter derision at the time.

Wow! Very close to my own personal journey through this mess.

Former Cruz supporter — now would crawl through nuclear fallout to support President Trump.

Despite all the criticism of Trump's New York Style and his choices to head government agencies and cabinets, Trump was a success. Let's go down the Trump memory hole and review the Obama/Biden/Hillary impediments and Trump's successes.

To begin with there was the Hillary inspired Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax that was known to and thereby approved by the Obama/Biden Administration. Think about that, a previous POTUS purposely set out to obstruct an incoming administration. That has never happened in American history. This was unimaginable just 8 years ago.

Was Trump wrong March 2017, when he accused the Obama/Biden Administration of spying on him? No he was not, but who believed him? He was not being outrageous or narcissistic. Trump was accurate and told the truth. Don't forget Governor DeSantis was then Congressman DeSantis. What did Congressman DeSantis do about all that Hillary/Obama crap from 2012 thru 2018? FYI, DeSantis chaired the Subcommittee on National Security (Remember the illegal unsecured home server while she was Secretary of State?) and served on the Foreign Affairs (Hello Benghazi!) and Judiciary Committees (the deletion of 30,000 emails).

Then there were the two Impeachments 1 and 2 and finally the Special Prosecutor Investigation. Impeachment 2 - Trump gets impeached for one phone call with Zelenskyy while Biden's Crime Family made millions off of Ukraine's corrupt company Burisma. Simply unbelievable!

Despite the despicable, malicious, and bullying behavior by Obama, Biden and Hillary and the very anemic RINO response, which recent POTUS was as successful as Trump?

Here is a shortlist of Trump's accomplishments in the 4 years that were positives for the majority of if not ALL Americans:

The gas price per gallon was about $2.30 vs $3.80 under Biden (This is a cost increase of $30/20 gal refill for each American).
Inflation was about 1.4%, mortgage rates were half of what they are now.
Unemployment was low before Covid and before Blue Governors shut everything down and we were in the midst of a V-shaped recovery until January 22, 2021.
Tax decrease - tax laws promoted small businesses as well as large.
US enjoyed energy independence - No Green Agenda, no war on energy, No Paris Treaty.
No war in Ukraine, no threat of nuclear war, NATO paid its way.
China was quiet and we were winning the trade war.
US companies were bringing home well paying jobs due to well executed tax treatments.
There was peace in the Middle East, aka Abraham Accords; the US Embassy moved to Jerusalem; and Iran was isolated. Remember Trump's audacious assassination of Iran's Qassem Soleimani?

How about Trump destroying Isis in just a matter on months?
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/heres-how-much-ground-isis-has-lost-since-trump-took-over

Trump handled Syria and Russia elegantly and successfully.
https://apnews.com/article/fee4d978f1ca42aaa891a59c5307a261

Trump got three non-left “I don't know what a woman is” Supreme Court Justices on the bench allowing Roe vs Wade to be overturned.

Trump had an excellent Economic Team and the US enjoyed a AAA+ rating that Biden's Team destroyed in 2+ years:

https://time.com/4440711/donald-trump-economic-advisors/

They were brilliant! And do not forget Wilbur Ross.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabinet_of_Donald_Trump

Funny how Russia was quiet during the Trump Administration. There was no Russian invasion of Ukraine until Biden took over. Why was that?

I hope you remember this:
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-nuclear-summit-obama-medvedev-idUSBRE82P0JI20120326

This was a very memorable and strategic event early into Trump's Administration:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/apr/12/trump-xi-jinping-chocolate-cake-syria-strikes

The above is why Putin behaved himself during the Trump Administration. Putin invaded the Ukraine under Biden just like he did under Obama when he claimed Crimea.

Who the heck can accomplish the above in four years while being impeached twice and investigated by the Obama/Biden Weaponized Agencies?

Trump received 11 million more votes in 2020 over 2016. Never has a sitting President lost when receiving more votes in his reelection bid. Trump increased his vote total by 17+%. Trump can claim victory in 17 of the 18 bellwether counties but still “lost” according to the Dems/MSM?

Do you really believe that Bumbling Biden received 15 million more votes than Hillary? That is an amazing and unbelievable 23% increase in votes for Bumbling Biden than Hillary. The election was blatantly in your face stolen.

Face it, Trump did one hell of a job! Compare Trump's job to that of Biden's. Attack Biden instead! People are suffering under Biden and all I witness are attacks on Trump.

Wait.

Who did you vote for in 20?

Did that person lose in 20, or did someone else “win”?

If the person you voted for in 20 is running again, why are you turning toward someone else? The original person who won 20 is Right. There.

Please explain why the person you voted for in 20 is no longer the person you would vote for in 24?

IOW, why?
