Ron DeSantis is the better man. But the nomination now belongs to Donald Trump
09/08/2023 | Drew68

Posted on 09/08/2023 9:20:57 PM PDT by Drew68

It is highly unlikely that Governor DeSantis will win the GOP nomination. The recent Wall Street Journal poll has cemented this into my head.

Yet, I'm sticking with DeSantis until he's out of the race, whether that be on Election Day (unlikely) or he ends his campaign during the primaries (as of now, quite likely).

I'm sticking with him because nobody else has the record of conservative accomplishments and stalwart executive leadership that he has repeatedly demonstrated. I look for action, not words.

This being said, Governor DeSantis has showed himself to be poor campaigner. He just can't close the deal. And as much as I enjoyed the victories, I think his "war on woke" has hurt him.

The best chance he has now is to pivot to economic issues, which are Trump's strong points (at least for the first three years of his administration). But Florida has a booming economy as well, with a record $22 billion surplus last year.

This pivot will be a long shot and is unlikely to be successful because he would be going up against President Trump's strongest attributes.

This will be an election on the economy and when gas prices at the pump exceed $6-7/gallon next year (and I believe they will), Trump will remind us all that we were paying under $2/gallon for much of his first term. This is going to be a big selling point. If Trump screwed up everything in 2020, he had a booming economy with plenty of jobs and low interest rates prior to that. This can't be denied.

I am resigning myself to the reality that the primaries are essentially over and Trump will be the GOP nominee. And if he is, I will vote for Trump because at the end of the day, Trump is better than Biden. Hell, Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, Tim Scott, and Vivek Ramaswamy are better than Biden!

It's a shame though. GOP primary voters would rather be led by a cult of personality than a true executive leader with a record of accomplishments. It is what it is though.

I hope Trump can pull it off. His victory will depend on Biden voters staying home.

I hope that Trump can learn from his many mistakes and not repeat them.

I hope Trump can reconcile his disastrous record on COVID.

I hope that Trump can beat back against the myriad of unjust charges that he is currently facing.

Still, Ron DeSantis is the leader that Trump tries to be and that's the truth.

And when he keeps bashing DeSantis with lies, it only shows Trump as the sad, little man that he has become. He should as of now, stop being be this sad, little man.

I hope Trump can rise above this. As of now, he will earn my vote, but he needs to become a better man.

Well, Bush actually WON … so while I am no fan of his, I would never be inclined to call him a “loser.”

OK. We will have to agree to disagree. I note you don’t refer to the writings by Carroll on the other men who assaulted her and she doesn’t know the season or the year of this very unbelievable incident. She didn’t scream didn’t tell anyone in the store.

The whole thing is baloney by a writer who at one point mused about how to take down Trump.
One of the friends who says she can corroborate E. Jean Carroll’s rape allegation against former President Donald Trump was questioned about an email she sent Carroll in 2017, in which she said Trump must be stopped and asked her friend to “scheme.”

While asking about how Carroll developed her book, which marked the first time she made that startling accusation, Trump’s lead defense attorney pointed out an exchange she had with a close friend, the fellow journalist Carol Martin.

“This has to stop,” Martin suggested in a Sept. 23, 2017 email about Trump. “As soon as we’re both well enough to scheme, we must do our patriotic duty again.”

“TOTALLY!!! I have something special for you when we meet,” Carroll responded.

Two weeks later, Carroll started a cross-country road trip to gather material for an upcoming book in 2019 about nasty men—one that ultimately included a bombshell account of Trump allegedly raping Carroll in the dressing room of Bergdorf Goodman.

The incident allegedly occurred in the fall of 1995 or spring of 1996, and Carroll still has the coat dress she claims to have worn that day. She claims Trump asked her for help with a gift and then allegedly lunged at her in a dressing room before forcibly penetrating her. Right!

In her new essay, Carroll recounts how she was allegedly assaulted by her waterfront director at Girl Scout Camp, Cam Parks, after winning the beauty pageant at age 12.

‘[Cam] takes me out in a boat and runs his hands under my shirt and up my shorts. He is breathing and moving his hand slowly and hotly, and I fight no battles in my head. My mind goes white. This is Cam,’ writes Carroll.

It is unconscionable that such a charge can be brought 20 years after the fact with no chance to interrogate witnesses, no contemporaneous reporting to authorities. No date, month or year. This should have been thrown out of court for lack of evidence not left to a jury to decide it is a chance to get Trump. This is banana republic level.

And this nutcase is besties with Mary Trump
Renowned authors E. Jean Carroll and Mary Trump have joined forces to embark on a surprising literary journey: co-writing a steamy romance novel. Shedding their familiar roles as political commentators, Carroll and Trump aim to provide readers with an enticing escape. It’s an unexpected collaboration with a commitment to avoiding political discussions in a unique offering.

According to The New York Times, Carroll expressed her excitement, saying, “I think we are going to have some very delicious scenes, as only Mary can describe them, so they’re going to be a little weird, but trust me, there are going to be some erotic scenes.” This collaboration promises to ignite readers’ imaginations and introduce them to a different side of these acclaimed authors.

I remember reading during the trial that Carroll and her witnesses got together to make sure their stories matched.

There sure are. Can you find the one who is an angel mom whose son died from a laced percocet?
The DeSantis campaign can’t. They haven’t pushed back on the article. It was the same DeSantis interview where he declared he would send the military, special forces across the border to attack the cartels. Armed invasion of Mexico...that seems like a great idea...what could go wrong?

So, as president, would you support sending US Special Forces over the border into Mexico to take out Fentanyl labs, to take out drug cartel operations? Would you support that kind of American military use.”

“Yes, and I will do it on day one. Here’s the thing. The cartels are killing tens of thousands of our fellow citizens. You want to talk about a country in decline? You have the cartels controlling a lot of parts of your Southern border.

We have to reestablish the rule of law, and we have to defend our people. The President of the United States has got to use all available powers as Commander in Chief to protect our country and to protect the people.

So, when they’re coming across, yes, we’re going to use lethal force. Yes, we reserve the right to operate. How many more tens of thousands are we going to let to die? I am sick. I have met Angel Moms throughout this country.

I met a lady in Texas named Tracy. And her son took one Percocet that was laced with fentanyl, and he immediately died. That is happening all across this country because of the poison that they are bringing in. So, as President, would I use force? Would I treat them as foreign terrorist organizations? You’re darn right I would.”

The whole case was and is preposterous. But Trump lost and on top of this his bad-mouthing behavior is costing him more money and more court time. I still think problem first was not taking this seriously and hiring the best attorneys, second, not getting it moved, and third, running his mouth. It’s almost like he wanted to lose.

I am not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but I run three businesses and serve on the board of directors of two others.

And I know a political charade when I see it … starting with the fact that New York State changed its statute of limitations on sexual assault claims specifically to let nitwits like that lunatic sue Trump in civil court.

“I would also point out that Trump had issued major executive orders even BEFORE the GOP lost the House in 2018 — which was a big reason why they lost the House in the first place.”

You honestly think the average American voter knows or cares a fig about executive orders, that have been issued by every American president since George Washington?

And Joe Biden is wrecking the country with executive orders. Even governors are getting in on the act, as New Mexico’s governor just outlawed the 2nd amendment.

Now pull your head out of your ass at least for some fresh air.

I believe it. This case is a travesty, one more example of unequal justice in today’s America. Lady Justice has taken off her blindfold and has a targeting sight on her rifle.

No. My point was that he HAD to issue all kinds of executive orders in matters that the Republican Party should have dealt with directly in Congress — but didn’t. <—— THIS was a big reason why the GOP got its ass kicked in 2018.

The Republican Party should have disbanded as a political party after the “ObamaCare repeal” fiasco. After spending seven years raising millions of dollars and running campaigns on a sacred promise to repeal that disaster, they proved once again to be a bunch of feckless losers.

That’s all very interesting, but also raises the question as to why Trump and his attorneys didn’t present that information in court? Do you have evidence that they attempted to do so and were stopped by Judge Kaplan?

Absent such evidence, which would be very good grounds for an appeal, I am left with two possibilities:

(1) Trump did it and is liable for his actions.

(2) Trump is actually innocent, but he and his chosen attorneys are seriously incompetent.

Possibility (2) may be reason to have sympathy for Trump, but not to vote for him to become President again. He’s the man who hired Wray & Barr, and perhaps he doesn’t do any better when hiring lawyers to defend himself.

"You have to look at the internals of a poll to find out how accurate or inaccurate it is, and this latest WSJ poll is an utter scam.

The WSJ hired a PAID TRUMP POLLSTER, Tony Fabrizio, to conduct their poll!

Their poll is based primarily on “registered” voters which is never an accurate way of determining a poll. And the “likely” voters is only 300 when you need a minimum of 800 likely voters to be anywhere near reliable."

You Ronlims and your trash stupidity. WSJ was LV, in black and white. LV is just a topline, dumbass, you either reveal your RV -> LV refinement inside the poll, which is WSJ's preferred method, or you pump-and-dump RV outside the internals to often get a preferred outcome that you can label LV.

That did not happen inside the 8/24 - 8/30 WSJ poll, which was specifically refined to LV. Q11-13 below, if you can read...

Not only did WSJ completely line up with every other current national poll, but WSJ reveals the sad f'ing truth: DeSantis has nearly tripled his Unfavorable rating since April.

#1 Trump & his attorneys are under constant threat and assault. Many of his lawyers have been threatened and indicted for the crime of defending him. Many have had to stop representing him on that basis. Tends to weaken the concentration and diminish the available pool of legal advisors.
#2 A normal human being could never believe this obvious bull could go anywhere.
#3 None of the males involved including Trump, have ever been in a Bergdof Goodman’s dressing room and had no idea how they are run. Looking at one 20 years after the fact would not occur to anyone unless they had info such as that furnished by the poster above.
#4 There are obvious parallels to the stolen election, with a corrupt judge & a tainted jury pool, justice like election integrity was purposely vitiated.
#5 People who act above it all, as though the rampant unconstitutionality & targeting are not going on, and instead blame the victim should examine their bias and integrity..

Trump DID present those facts!

And unlike YOU, I know what I'm talking about, from first hand knowledge!

I even have FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE of the history of that store, that has NOT been written about and that I doubt anyone else knows about, now, so do NOT even hint that I "might be mistaken"!

You are the one who has less than NO idea, whatsoever, about ANY of this!

You don't even know what has been written about it ( the fact that Trump said what I posted! ), except for the lefty propaganda!

Neither do you know nor understand WHY Trump mistook E. Jean in that somewhat blurry photo. Because YOU don't go to charity galas/dinners/ etc., meet a LOT of strangers ( whom you will NOT remember many decades later ! ), whom you NEVER see again, have NO idea what Trump and that milieux's lives are like!

I also doubt that you 1) live in, or have EVER lived in Manhattan 2) have even been in close proximity to Bergdorf's 3) have EVER been INSIDE that store or any similar one 4) or can imagine what any of that is actually like.

And as far as his lawyers are concerned, he could have had Alan Dershowitz, William Jennings Bryant, and John Adams as his lawyers and he STILL would have lost that NYC case; that's how corrupt and crooked it was and the jurors were hand picked anti-Trump MORONS!

SPOT ON...you nailed it!

E. Jean has NO idea what year, month, nor day it was; not even the time of day!

She did NOT report it!

She did NOT tell anyone about it until looooooooooooooooooooong after it was supposed to have happened!

She wrote a book all about many men she would like to be raped by and how "rape is sexy", which she also said on T.V., to Anderson Cooper.

And....wasn't going to actually DO anything about this, until KellyAnne Conway's fat, ugly, sleazy lawyer, anti-Trumper, ex-husband contacted E. Jean and set the ball rolling!

I agree with you that the current US department of injustice is a serious threat to everyone’s liberty. I disagree that nominating Trump in 2024 is the best answer to that threat. That’s precisely what the Rats want us to do to assure themselves of another 4 years in the White House, and perhaps indefinite power.

In 1860 Republicans nominated Lincoln, because it was thought that he was more electable than Seward. In 2024 we also need to nominate the most electable Republican, and if that is really Nikki Haley, who I dislike, I’m OK with it. It is important that we do our best in 2024, and not act like a herd of Republican lemmings heading off the cliff with Trump.

Thank you for your courteous reply.
I am not afraid of Trump as nominee and believe the left has succeeded in getting you to buy their narrative.

I postulate based on Trump’s 1st presidency which accomplished more than any other in my life time the absolute best plan is to stick with the man who has a track record of success.
No warmongers like Nikki, no dissemblers like Vivek, no traitors like Pence. We will leave DeSantis out of this post but absolutely no DeSantis.

It is criminally stupid to ignore success, grit, determination and dedication to all Americans: black, white, old, young, in prison, needing a hand to work for their dreams, in poor neighborhoods, historic black colleges, veterans, our military, border patrol, farmers, auto workers etc. Trump met with all these groups & more, listened carefully and followed through, responding to their needs & concerns, with solutions that worked.

Perhaps you are unfamiliar with Trump’s documented accomplishments for America & the American people.
This is only the top of the list, just scratching the surface of his accomplishments:
America gained 7 million new jobs – more than three times government experts’ projections.
Middle-Class family income increased nearly $6,000 – more than five times the gains during the entire previous administration.
The unemployment rate reached 3.5 percent, the lowest in a half-century.
Achieved 40 months in a row with more job openings than job-hirings.
More Americans reported being employed than ever before – nearly 160 million.
Jobless claims hit a nearly 50-year low.
The number of people claiming unemployment insurance as a share of the population hit its lowest on record.
Incomes rose in every single metro area in the United States for the first time in nearly 3 decades.
Delivered a future of greater promise and opportunity for citizens of all backgrounds.

Unemployment rates for African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, Native Americans, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and those without a high school diploma all reached record lows.
Unemployment for women hit its lowest rate in nearly 70 years.
Lifted nearly 7 million people off of food stamps.
Poverty rates for African Americans and Hispanic Americans reached record lows.
Income inequality fell for two straight years, and by the largest amount in over a decade.
The bottom 50 percent of American households saw a 40 percent increase in net worth.
Wages rose fastest for low-income and blue collar workers – a 16 percent pay increase.
African American homeownership increased from 41.7 percent to 46.4 percent.
Brought jobs, factories, and industries back to the USA.

Created more than 1.2 million manufacturing and construction jobs.
Put in place policies to bring back supply chains from overseas.
Small business optimism broke a 35-year old record in 2018.
