Ron DeSantis is the better man. But the nomination now belongs to Donald Trump
09/08/2023 | Drew68

Posted on 09/08/2023 9:20:57 PM PDT by Drew68

It is highly unlikely that Governor DeSantis will win the GOP nomination. The recent Wall Street Journal poll has cemented this into my head.

Yet, I'm sticking with DeSantis until he's out of the race, whether that be on Election Day (unlikely) or he ends his campaign during the primaries (as of now, quite likely).

I'm sticking with him because nobody else has the record of conservative accomplishments and stalwart executive leadership that he has repeatedly demonstrated. I look for action, not words.

This being said, Governor DeSantis has showed himself to be poor campaigner. He just can't close the deal. And as much as I enjoyed the victories, I think his "war on woke" has hurt him.

The best chance he has now is to pivot to economic issues, which are Trump's strong points (at least for the first three years of his administration). But Florida has a booming economy as well, with a record $22 billion surplus last year.

This pivot will be a long shot and is unlikely to be successful because he would be going up against President Trump's strongest attributes.

This will be an election on the economy and when gas prices at the pump exceed $6-7/gallon next year (and I believe they will), Trump will remind us all that we were paying under $2/gallon for much of his first term. This is going to be a big selling point. If Trump screwed up everything in 2020, he had a booming economy with plenty of jobs and low interest rates prior to that. This can't be denied.

I am resigning myself to the reality that the primaries are essentially over and Trump will be the GOP nominee. And if he is, I will vote for Trump because at the end of the day, Trump is better than Biden. Hell, Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, Tim Scott, and Vivek Ramaswamy are better than Biden!

It's a shame though. GOP primary voters would rather be led by a cult of personality than a true executive leader with a record of accomplishments. It is what it is though.

I hope Trump can pull it off. His victory will depend on Biden voters staying home.

I hope that Trump can learn from his many mistakes and not repeat them.

I hope Trump can reconcile his disastrous record on COVID.

I hope that Trump can beat back against the myriad of unjust charges that he is currently facing.

Still, Ron DeSantis is the leader that Trump tries to be and that's the truth.

And when he keeps bashing DeSantis with lies, it only shows Trump as the sad, little man that he has become. He should as of now, stop being be this sad, little man.

I hope Trump can rise above this. As of now, he will earn my vote, but he needs to become a better man.

If he was the better man he would have never run at this time. Too many reasons his timing was terrible. Too many things he was not good at yet.

It takes a special kind of irony to say what you said.

It's over. RDS won't even place first if Trump drops out.

Delusions he might win are.......delusional.

It's time to unify behind the only one who can dig us out of this evil Stalinist takeover.

I think Ron should stay in Florida and keep doing a good job there. I’m not particularly interested in him being President.

You’d be hard pressed to find a worse group of insufferable losers in national politics than Republican lawyers.

Were Bush, McCain, and Romney any better?

Do we still believe in “good men” (or “good women”) in politics?

And if there are any, do they ever win?

Why would successful people with a good home life give it all up to go into the public sector?

This is how the Cultural Marxists have won, they have made it such a hive of scum and villainy, good people just stay away.

The sexual allegations against Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas were entirely uncorroborated. And the allegations against Kavanaugh were so flimsy as to be ridiculous.

In the Carroll case two women testified that Carroll had told them about the department store assault at the time it happened; and a third woman testified that Trump had molested her on an airplane. And of course Trump misidentified Carroll’s picture as his second wife Marla, after first saying she wasn’t his type. Using the civil standard of preponderance of the evidence the jury had an easy decision, and didn’t take long returning a verdict in favor of Carroll.

Brett Kavanaugh was a central figure, as Ken Starr’s assistant, in the coverup of Vincent Foster’s death, and in my opinion should never have been appointed to the US Supreme Court.

Kavanaugh had replaced the honest prosecutor, Miquel Rodriguez, who resigned in protest after Starr prevented him from properly investigating Foster’s death. Unfortunately in DC the corrupt who go along rise to the top, and honest people are confined to obscurity (if they are lucky enough to even stay alive).

I'm gonna LMAO if it turns out Nikki Haley wins the GOP nomination.

Yes, it's possible. You can mark this post.

That’s all very interesting, but why didn’t Trump present your evidence in court against Carroll?

I can think of two possibilities:
(1) You are mistaken about how Bergdorf operated at the time in question.
(2) Trump and all of his attorneys are totally incompetent.

Multiple women testified against Trump …

And yet nobody testifying in this case could even say what YEAR this alleged incident occurred, let alone the exact date.

That nitwit Christine Buzzy Ford had a stronger claim to make against Brett Kavanaugh … and there’s no question that she was a lying phony.

With all due respect, I think you’re either a moron or a Democrat troll.

Despite her not being an eligible NBC, she will place well. But DeSantis as NBC, who hasn’t pi55ed off southerners over statues, etc., will top her. I figure DeSantis, Haley, Christie would be top three among current pool. Would anyone else jump in at this late date if Trump dropped out?

Trump didn’t lose the House. The Republican Party did that on merit — by spending two years pissing away their most valuable opportunity in more than a decade to actually accomplish anything consequential on behalf of their constituents.

I have voted a straight Republican ticket since 1980, and my IQ has been measured as 158+(Stanford Binet). So I would offer an alternative explanation: like many if not most Trump supporters your judgement has been adversely impaired by your emotions.

I would also point out that Trump had issued major executive orders even BEFORE the GOP lost the House in 2018 — which was a big reason why they lost the House in the first place.
