A transgender man from South Carolina is alleged to have been murdered by a man he left home to meet for a first date at an amusement park.
The body of Jacob Williamson, 18, from Laurens, was found on July 4 by the side of the road in Pageland, some seven miles from where police believe he was killed.
Williamson had been writing to a man from North Carolina a month-and-a-half when the pair agreed to meet in person on June 30 - but Williamson never came home after leaving for the park along the border to North Carolina and South Carolina.
Authorities from Union County, North Carolina, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation have now arrested two suspects, Joshua Newton, 25, and his girlfriend Victoria Smith, 22, in connection to Williamson's death.
Newton has been charged with first-degree murder and obstruction of justice while Smith has been charged with obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact.
Williamson had arranged to meet Newton at a local Waffle House before heading to the Carowinds amusement park.
Newton is alleged to have driven more than 100 miles to pick up Williamson for their date but instead of heading to the amusement park, he brought Williamson back to his trailer park home in Monroe, North Carolina. where he allegedly killed the teen.
Newton did not give police a clear motive or manner of Williamson's murder.
A family friend, Promise Edwards, revealed to WHNS that Williamson had been living with her for a month-and-a-half after he left his family's home when some relatives were said to have difficultly accepting his transitioning.
He agreed to have his phone tracked while on the date but Edwards became concerned after the location was suddenly turned off.

I think we’re in the same boat nearly.
I’ve got several relatives under the age of 25 with diagnosed gender dysmorphias, but they’re all asexual and agender.
So they’re not gay, not straight, not bi, and not “out and proud” flag wearing trans.
You know what else they all have in common? Autistic spectrum disorders, and introverted personalities.
The oldest is biologically female, has high functioning autism and isn’t even consciously aware of her sex beyond the fact she’s got boobs and lady parts downstairs.
All of society’s expectations on what she as a 25 year old female “ought to be” fly completely over her head.
Sensory overload: she thinks overdone makeup makes women look like clowns and it feels icky to her, she thinks anything from an aerosol can stinks like stale alcohol (the propellant smells strongest to her) so she retches if you spray it near her, she doesn’t get the point of perfume because that stuff just stinks.
She is totally familiar with all aspects of physical reproduction and has no filter so she could talk for hours about literally every part of the make/female anatomy but to her it’s abstract science.
She has never had a crush, has no romantic interests, and if a guy tried to chat her up she’d be oblivious to it.
So...
She wears men’s trousers and jumpers. Why? Not to be a man. Because the pockets are more practical, men’s clothing is generally cheaper, and she gets far less pestering from total strangers if she’s travelling incognito than if she was strutting around in a figure hugging top and a short skirt.
I pity the fool who suggests to her that she’s got some kind of disability. She thinks that the ability to just ignore useless crap is a superpower!
And she thinks stonewall is a mad cult.
From the pics in the article the victim was a pudgy girl who had not done any hormone treatments yet.
Probably nerdy and lonely and looking for a way to make her life better.

I’m old, 75. Is there a source for such stats? The on line dating that I hear about is almost always a failure.

Over the years I’ve read several stories where a man, pretending to be a woman seduces another man. At some point the seduced man realizes what has happened. He then kills the fake woman. I think the reason for this is the seduced man has to prove he isn’t gay. His only choice is to erase the event, the stain on his manly honor, in the only way he knows how.
I’m guessing the fake woman believes that once he’s having sex with the seduced man that the seduced man will just go along or even “convert.” Obviously, the person who believes that is delusional.
The thing I’ve noticed that seems to be a common element is the seduced man is young, sometimes a teenager. Also, the seduced man is large and muscular. I’m guessing the seduced man is also insecure and has worked hard to get muscular to compensate for that insecurity. He’s also probably inexperienced and feels tricked and betrayed.

I agree. I remember writing something a couple of years ago, when this insanity was just getting ramped up, that there are going to be a number of bodies showing up. It will be blamed on “transphobia” but will actually be unbridled rage for being deceived. I can’t even imagine being a man and finding out (don’t ask me how lol) that the person I’ve just been intimate with is actually a butchered man, and not a woman. I can see that sending someone off the deep end.
What I am confused about in this case is the real man (the one with the girlfriend) was meeting up with the fake man for a fling.....and he was mad to find out it was actually a woman pretending to be a man. So I have to assume he was wanting to have a girlfriend AND a homosexual encounter? It gets so complicated these days! So glad I’m old.
They don’t just date online; they coordinate all their “networking” activities online particularly if they don’t fit in with the cliques in school or geographically have difficulty doing it face to face.
My daughter has a circle of maybe 30 friends in real life who live in other towns and villages around here. We’re in a small town but it’s surrounded by other small towns, villages and farming hamlets.
They talk online a lot (a bit like hogging the phone in the 80s and 90s but with video conferencing) AND they meet up in person but the logistics of meeting up outside school are tricky.
Number of friends she’s got at her high school that live within a 30 minute walk from our house? Two.
This also explains why a lot of what us old buffers think might be online dating with leery strangers usually isn’t dating at all. They’re often using video calls in a group, like a Teams or Zoom meeting at work.
A middle aged pervert on the call would obviously look totally out of place if everyone else on the call was in the same high school peer group.
They totally understand the difference between this kind of social networking, and chatting to a random stranger on a forum (like most of us Freepers do).
Freeper relationships are fundamentally fake - the only guaranteed thing people have in common here is we log onto the same site and ostensibly have some common opinions on some ideological/political/religious topics.
I bet many long time Freepers have met up in real life, and not for sexy times. Why assume kids on Snapchat can’t do that too?

And a lot of people cannot wrap their head around the fact that any deviation of sexual attraction / identity / presentation / romantic interest from your biological sex is in fact a deep mental disorder and signifies a lower capacity for reasoning and emotional stability.

What you wrote is a liberal fantasy. Those things aren’t separate because to separate them results in destruction. That’s why it was and should be continued to be classified as mental illness when that happens.
Like other mentally ill people the alphabet people are more likely to commit crimes, be the victim of crimes, commit suicide and engage in physical self destructive behaviors that shorten their lives (they are immune compromised by behavior).
I exclude the tiny number of people who have chromosome and endocrine disorders. They have true medical issues.
A good while after my wife of 25 years died, I started talking online to a woman in Fort Worth (170 miles away) who was widowed after her husband of 25 years had also died. I drove that 170 miles for our first date, after telling her that "I had a car and wasn't afraid to use it".

My husband and I met the old-fashioned way; through our parents, in person.
My son found his wife through a dating app. He was very clear in his profile: white conservative Christian male seeks conservative Christian female for serious relationship culminating in marriage. He put his profile picture up along with his Trump gear.
Three weeks later, a lovely young lady with long blonde hair and pretty blue eyes contacted him. They talked for several hours, met for their first date, and that was it. He’s a traditional masculine man and she’s a traditional feminine woman; it was a perfect fit. Two years later, they were married. It helps that they were both “as advertised.”
You’re right that folks need to be careful. But at 18, on your first-ever date, you’re a bundle of nerves thinking about how much fun you are going to have at an amusement park, not that some psycho and his creepy girlfriend are luring you there to kill you.
This whole thing is starting to reach the level of reported shootings in Chicago each weekend. The world is getting conditioned to consider all of this statistics, rather than each one being a tragedy,

Trans is very specific; you are not comfortable with your birth sex. You believe you were born in the wrong body.
Overwhelmingly, people who are trans have an endocrine disorder. People don’t understand (or don’t want to understand) how that can impact a person.
Those who don’t may have a mental illness or need therapy.
My youngest son has Asbergers; he wasn’t even remotely interested in a romantic relationship until last year, when he met his girlfriend. He’s still uncomfortable when talking about it, but he’s getting into holding hands, hugging, etc. His girlfriend also has Asbergers, so they are taking everything nice and slow.
Suits her parents and my husband and I just fine.
