A bride and groom leaving their wedding reception in Folly Beach, South Carolina, on a golf cart were hit by a car, leading to the woman's death, according to police and the family.
Folly Beach police said about 10 p.m. Friday, a vehicle rear-ended a golf cart in the 1200 block of E. Ashley Avenue.
There was a driver in the car and four people in the golf cart, police said.
Police said one person in the golf cart died and the three others were injured.
A GoFundMe page identifies the bride as Samantha “Sam" Hutchinson, 34, and her new husband as Aric Hutchinson.
The page, organized by the mother of the groom, said family members were escorting the couple from the reception when they were hit from behind.
"The golf cart was thrown over 100 yards and rolled several times," the page says.
It says Aric Hutchinson is in serious condition and has had one of two reconstruction surgeries, numerous broken bones and a brain injury.
The page said the two others were also injured, one seriously.
"I was handed Aric’s wedding ring in a plastic bag at the hospital, five hours after Sam placed it on his finger and they read each other their vows," the groom's mother wrote on the page. "Aric has lost the love of his life."
The driver of the car, Jamie Lee Komoroski, 25, was arrested and charged with three counts of DUI involving great bodily injury or death and reckless homicide, according to the Charleston County Detention Center website.
She is being held with no bond.
Growing up in Connecticut, the thought of golf carts on public streets would be unthinkable. Here in Phoenix, they are common, often used for selling drinks or snack foods.
Your "government" protecting you...
Those GoFundMe accounts go up fast.

> That young woman who caused this accident is going to have a lot of time to think about this. <
Sadly, that’s probably not the case. Murderers are quite good at explaining away their crimes.
A mugger: “It’s not my fault. I shot him only because he didn’t give up his wallet fast enough.”
And in this instance: “It’s not my fault. A golf cart shouldn’t be on the road.”
This incident happened on a public road with a 25mph speed limit. The woman that hit them was not a wedding guest and was in a normal car and was alone. Her estimated speed was 65mph.
“LSV” which is a specific vehicle category golf cart in SC. It’s an upgraded golf cart with lights, seat belts, lights front and back, windshield wipers, horn, etc....They are only allowed on roads with a max speed limit of 35pmh. This incident happened on a public road with a 25mph speed limit
Possibly both the best and worst marriage.
Yep. Americans love that cash grab.
Appalling.
65 in a 25 zone is death right there. No alcohol impairment needed to kill at that speed - it’s lethal all by itself. And then she was drunk too. Not one of the guests and prior arrests for drunk driving.
Prior DUI Arrest history
Doing 65 in 25 mil zone
I hate reading things like this... R.I.P.
Beautiful couple. Simply heartbreaking. https://www.theknot.com/us/samantha-miller-and-aric-hutchinson-apr-2023/photos

Your comment is more appalling than someone trying to be charitable to three people who just lost a family members and need expensive medical treatment.
The perps are always “known to the government”...
No more to little to late
One would think I lived at a resort with all the golf carts driving around my town in SE Michigan. They have had to crack down on the under aged drivers.
Speed limit in town is 25 mph. No accidents that I know of.
Why was the murderer, Jamie Lee Komoroski, driving drunk?
...in a 25mph speed zone
Well I just lost my appetite, what a terrible story.
