Hebron, New York (WCSO) – According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on April 15, 2023 at approximately 9:53 PM, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a female that had possibly been shot near Cemetery Road in the Town of Salem. As patrols responded to the scene, additional 911 calls came in reporting that shots had been fired from a residence on Patterson Hill Road in the Town of Hebron.
Upon arriving at the first scene on Cemetery Road, Deputies discovered a female who had been in a vehicle and was a victim of a gunshot wound. She was identified as Kaylin A. Gillis, age 20 of Schuylerville, New York. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Through the preliminary investigation it was learned that the vehicle the victim was in mistakenly pulled into the driveway at the Patterson Hill Road address. The homeowner fired at least two shots, one of which struck the victim while she was a passenger in a vehicle.
Through investigative efforts it was determined that the person who fired the shots was Kevin D. Monahan. Monahan was uncooperative with the investigation and refused to exit his residence to speak with police. He was later taken into custody with the assistance of the New York State Police Special Operation Response Team after several hours.
Monahan was arrested and charged with Murder in the 2nd degree. He was then transferred to the Warren County Jail to be held.
“This is a very sad case of some young adults who were looking for a friend’s house and ended up at this man’s house who decided to come out with a firearm and discharge it,” Sheriff Murphy said.

Can’t find the “nose ring, tatted up” version of this girl.
Even if she was, she was in the passenger seat.
Most likely she was shot a gin soaked, mad at the world, old man that liked to pretend he had the right to solve all the world’s wrongs” with his rifle and his “tiny gun”.
Gives good gun owners a bad image.
“From the road it was several hundred yards down the lane, over a hill and then there was a turn off to get to our house”
Sounds like our cousin’s house. Their driveway was on the old roadbed that the county pretty much abandoned (although they would run a road grader over it to spread out the rocks)
Anyone who parked there for “privacy” didn’t realize there were occupants in the three nearby farmhouses keeping an eye on them.
Occasionally these lovers would have a volley of rocks hit their cars and the giggling laughter of preteen agers hiding behind the wild rose bushes.
Our granny once caught a state trooper with his girlfriend “flagrante delicto” and she got his name, badge number and later on his job taken away.
One thing these threads are good for is flushing out the nutjobs on FR.

You can say that again, brother. lots of really idiotic people shooting their mouths off without any information.
No need to hear any facts! Just give them a fair trial and hang them. Actually, Just proceed to execution. we have heard enough facts {idiot}
“No need to hear any facts! Just give them a fair trial and hang them. Actually, Just proceed to execution. we have heard enough facts”
*************************
It was your old boy in this article who didn’t want to hear any facts and just proceeded to execution without knowing or caring why they were in his driveway. Exactly what facts do you think are being omitted here? Unless the people in that car were pointing weapons of their own at him I can’t think of any other justifiable reason for what he did. And if that were the case I’m sure that allegation would have been mentioned by now. Nope this guy was just some paranoid cowardly freak probably drunk and unusually stupid who is giving responsible gun owners a bad name. I mean this guy literally fits the negative stereotype lefties always use as the reason we need more gun laws.
In our area of the country unless the property is posted no trespassing it is open to hikers.
Your front lawn? Wow.
Whelp that is a long driveway. But if he was that adverse to people coming onto his property he should have at least installed a gate. There’s no stand your ground laws in New York State and in NYC you could likely be arrested for even defending yourself. Shooting someone in NY can only be considered justified if your life is in immediate danger. This guy would have to be mentally impaired and/or intoxicated to do what he did. Nice house he has there too bad he won’t get to live in it anymore.
If you were to ask the average Freeper whether the media lies or not, most would say “Yes absolutely” but they still will allow themselves to get all riled up and mount a lynch mob over some hyped up media story without knowing a damn thing about what really happened, judging by the comments in this thread.
Then why don’t you give us an plausible alternative scenario that would justify this shoot? Face it this guy was most likely a paranoid schizophrenic who shouldn’t have had a gun to begin with. And those defending him on this thread are probably loons themselves.
Here’s your plausible alternative scenario: let’s wait until all the information to come out so we have a better idea of what really happened.
My father couldn't legally put a gate at the beginning of the carriage lane or post it because it had been identified on the county survey plat. Our farm house was a broken down falling apart antebellum mansion, That my father bought at auction in 1959 with 93 acres for $11,000.00. The second story was closed when we lived there, with heavy visqueen plastic over the broken out upstairs windows.
The large mansion can be seen from the road, way off in the distance, through the trees. In its rundown state it seemed to call people to snoop and possibly plunder.
There was one other abandoned antebellum mansion farther down the carriage lane and it had been held in a probate dispute for many years. The estate had given grazing rights but the buildings stayed unused for at least fifty years until the house burned down in the 1980's. The path of the carriage lane eventually made a great circle back to the highway in front of the Methodist Church founded by the builders of the two antebellum mansions.
Two owners after my mother sold it, have completely restored it.

“The Nashville shooter is an example of what I’m talking about.”
Of course the media is completely useless and manipulative. I guess the prime example of that in terms of pictures of perps/victims is Trayvon Martin, who was what 17 when he was killed? And then the pix on the news was of, what him at age 13? Totally bogus, of course.
But, there’s no indication in either of these news stories that these persons who were killed where up to anything illegal or nefarious.
look, I’m going by the reports that I suppose could be completely wrong, but at least in the case of the woman there’s no race angle, so why would that story be false?
And, as to the black kid - he WAS there to pick up his younger siblings who WERE waiting for him in a house close by on a street with a similar name.
Now, if this is all some big fat lie, and these accused were just staunch fellows fending off home invaders, that’s another story.
But, sadly, I don’t think that’s what it is. I think our entire nation and civilization is going off the rails.
And while it may be necessary to FIGHT THE POWER blowing away the next dope that gets lost is not the way to do that.
I guess we can agree that neither of us trusts the media. How sad.
“I guess we can agree that neither of us trusts the media. How sad.”
It is sad. I’ve been coming to realize that they’ve been a very destructive influence long before they became just mouthpieces for the Dem Party.
The best argument for trigger discipline is that you won’t be pulling the trigger just because you might be experiencing heightened adrenaline levels. That’s also why it’s a bad idea to rest your trigger finger on the mag release button of your AR. Don’t need to hit that in the excitement, either.
I tend to agree with your assessment of the shooter. More facts need to come out. 10:30 PM is a bad time to screw around in rural areas.
Yep. I’ve said this a million times!
For folks so skiddish to msm (rightfully so! ), they surely don’t act like it when it comes to putting their money where their mouth is.
"Gillis and six friends — three of them in the vehicle in which she was a front-seat passenger, two more in a second vehicle and another on a motorcycle — mistakenly drove up Monahan’s unpaved driveway just before 10 p.m. that night as they searched for a friend’s house. That area of Washington County is roughly 19 miles northeast of the residence where Gillis lived with her family in neighboring Saratoga County. The area is notorious for its poor cell service. The group, after realizing they were at the wrong house and without getting out of their vehicles, started turning around to leave as they struggled to connect with GPS on their phones to find the correct address, according to Murphy."
