Hebron, New York (WCSO) – According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on April 15, 2023 at approximately 9:53 PM, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a female that had possibly been shot near Cemetery Road in the Town of Salem. As patrols responded to the scene, additional 911 calls came in reporting that shots had been fired from a residence on Patterson Hill Road in the Town of Hebron.
Upon arriving at the first scene on Cemetery Road, Deputies discovered a female who had been in a vehicle and was a victim of a gunshot wound. She was identified as Kaylin A. Gillis, age 20 of Schuylerville, New York. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Through the preliminary investigation it was learned that the vehicle the victim was in mistakenly pulled into the driveway at the Patterson Hill Road address. The homeowner fired at least two shots, one of which struck the victim while she was a passenger in a vehicle.
Through investigative efforts it was determined that the person who fired the shots was Kevin D. Monahan. Monahan was uncooperative with the investigation and refused to exit his residence to speak with police. He was later taken into custody with the assistance of the New York State Police Special Operation Response Team after several hours.
Monahan was arrested and charged with Murder in the 2nd degree. He was then transferred to the Warren County Jail to be held.
“This is a very sad case of some young adults who were looking for a friend’s house and ended up at this man’s house who decided to come out with a firearm and discharge it,” Sheriff Murphy said.

There’s more to this story and we’re not hearing it.
My conclusion, after this shooting and the recent one where the young man was shot after knocking on the wrong door, is that many people are now afraid of strangers.
Stupid alcoholic looking old man. If that were my daughter this dude would be in the wood chipper.
Don’t trespass, don’t get shot. Very simple concept.
(There must be something more to these stories.)
Media won’t cover this story like the one in Kansas City, of course.
I wonder about that also. It’s hard to believe that a young woman pulling into your driveway prompts someone to pull a gun and shoot her.
As with any shocking story, let’s wait for all the facts to be disclosed.
“There’s more to this story and we’re not hearing it.”
Like the homeowner had a serious substance abuse problem or is crazy or a combination of both. Regardless, he’s on his way to prison and will spend his remaining days being somebody’s bottom bitch.
I know of only 2...................
I’m also looking at the picture of the ‘victim’ and in diferent reports they show her from several years ago and she looks wholesome, clean, and decent. The more recent picture shows a tatted up wokester with a nose ring and bleached hair.
Which makes me wonder if she looked even worse when she got herself shot.
...and perhaps the strangers are relying on GPS a little too much...
Maybe I saw one that was reported twice, but there was the old white man who shot the young black man who knocked on the door, supposedly looking to pick up his kids. Then this. Thought I saw something in Tennessee and this one in NY.
Im guessing Biden wont be calling her family
The closest I ever came to shooting someone was a drunk chick who came to my apartment looking for her boyfriend.
She misread the apartment number. I didn’t know her or her boyfriend.
I had a hard time convincing her she had the wrong place.
My gun was pointed at her during our whole conversation. She didn’t seem to notice.
Finally, I got her to understand the difference between 332 and 323 and to recall that, in the past, she only had to go up one flight of stairs to get to his place.
That’s why I never try to go into a driveway to turn around when I get lost.
A very similar thing happened to us one late night where we used to live.................
So you think merely pulling into someone’s driveway is grounds to shoot them? You sound like a paranoid pinhead who shouldn’t be in possession of a firearm yourself.
Ok, I think you are correct. The Ralph Yarl shooting was the second. Another strange one.
My guess is the guy was drunk. Came out and shot. That’s why he won’t talk to the cops.
