Approval of fourth insect as a Novel Food - The EU Food Commission

In a nutshell, the EU Food Commission has approved the use of insects to be part of our diet. I do not doubt that they are intending to eventually remove real meat and have us eat this crap.

You have from the meaning as to why an animal is clean or unclean. In general, clean animals that can be consumed draw their nutrition from plants, they are disease free and they are not scavangers.
Meet those three conditions and you will animal protein that is considered Biblically clean. In the case of leviticus, that would be locusts and grasshoppers.
In the American South West, that would include the Cicidas when they are on their awake cycle.
