Sky event
The Russians were too cheap to use Aeroquip hydraulic hoses on their machinery. My guys could find their boats in either ocean. Our last boats that made any actual noise were the Skate class with that fleet style sheet metal on the fairwater/deck surfaces. And I caught some clowns painting the rubber on some of their hoses which meant I could hear the motors running dockside. I wrote a procedure that made that a “no beer for you” offense. But from the Skipjacks, Threshers, and Sturgeons on, them suckers was quiet. If you happen to ride the Queenfish you know how good the crew could “hear.”
One of my forever pet peeves is the lack or at least halfassed level of cross training. I always thot it would help crew retention if a better effort was made for crews to learn what each other can do?
