Since I realize some of you have trouble actually reading, here is the video Trump released yesterday, his first policy statement for 2024, with free speech demands that, gosh, just might preserve this website and the few others that aspire to be just like it.

Donald Trump Unveils Free Speech Policy Plan to ‘Shatter Left-Wing Censorship Regime’

President Donald J. Trump unveiled a free-speech policy platform on Thursday to “shatter the left-wing censorship regime and reclaim the right to free speech for all Americans.”

The 45th president shared a video to his Truth Social account where he details a number of policy steps he would enact, if elected president, to prohibit censorship by government agencies and big tech companies."

“A week before Christmas and his family is consumed with a vote that will happen in 2 years and digital trading cards.”

Really?

Fixated on 2020 isn’t a bad thing. It’s proof that he’s the right guy. If they steal elections with impunity that is already the end of the Republic. If you are willing to just move on after that (see Romney and Gore) then you really are not fit to lead thr country in this day and age. There are currently 2 people who won’t take stolen elections and move on. Trump and Kari Lake. The rest are trash phony politician’s.

Speaking of bad judgment, 99% of everyone on this site voted for and re-elected bush, a big insiderand open borders globalist.

And the same posers will you tell you Trump has bad judgment.

Vodka with steak? Blech

I just bought a case of a commemorative Cabernet Sauvignon from Fall Creek Vineyards. Honoring the heroes of the Alamo, the grapes were grown on land once owned by COL William B Travis.

To each his own.

But his unforced errors are causing doubt and confusion. That’s no way to build a winning coalition in 2024.

George Washington was losing right up to the day he was winning. You would have sat on the fencepost with him too.

He got his winning from where? He didn’t give up.

Fence sitters were of no help.

Nope, public impressions count. Appearances are important -so said the great George Washington (definitely better than Trump, no question).

This is not a good impression. Not if you’re looking at presidential material.

Few are going to not vote for Trump if he is the nominee.

That is a strawman. But for the primary, this will help push many to see the pattern.

Not thinking. How nice. Never mind it’s not thinking when constantly supporting this man and defending ever single thing he does or says. As if he is perfect. Far from it. Time to start thinking and realize this guy is a loose cannon. Shooting off at the mouth does not make one “tough”, nor does holding one’s tongue make one “weak”.

That’s what I see is absolutely sycophantish devotion to Trump. And his big ego knows it and is milking it for all it’s worth. Hence the sucker meme.

I liked that speech.

But as a radio host said, why did he have to package it with this silly “card” stuff?

Make a good argument about free speech, but leave it there. Make them want more.

But no, we had to pull something silly, self-important, and a bit palm-greasing.

“…his aggrandizing self promotion.”

Trump has plastered his name over nearly everything he’s ever done. I find that aspect of his personality to be off putting, but this is Trump. No one should be surprised by it, and it doesn’t change a thing for me politically. He’s a fighter, someone proven in battle against my political enemies at great personal cost.

I’m not going to let some stupid (for me) digital trading cards change my support and frankly cannot believe some FReepers are willing to switch their votes over it (assuming they weren’t already DeSantis supporters just jumping on an opportunity to bash Trump).

GW also said appearances count. And he was right. So he conducted himself, especially in public.

BTW, you’re talking about the war. Which isn’t quite as you sum it, but yes it was desperate. But Washington also presided over the Constitutional Convention and was chosen as president twice before stepping down. There was much more to his career.

No one was ever as popular and revered as GW, and his overwhelming presidential wins were the real start of it. And he didn’t “run”, he was just picked. And accepted.

Sorry, but that’s one of my POVs: what would Washington do? He wouldn’t think much of Trump, that I am positive.

Not that it matters. We have what we have.

Uh, he’s acknowledged that RON would not have these stupid picks.

He’s just using Trump’s faux pas against his lovers.

It’s off topic, but you’re right about Bush. We didn’t exactly have a better alternative, but Bush was the RINO party insider choice—more “electable”. Frankly, he was a horrible president who sold out conservatives almost immediately. Even worse, he got us entangled in foreign wars and impossible nation building.

Now consider Trump. He’s not a polished politician nor a party insider. The party elite pretty much despises him except for maybe a third. Yet we blame Trump when we ourselves re-elect the same traitorous, Bush loving senators and representatives. Nevertheless, he fought them on our behalf.

This trading card stuff is much ado about nothing.

Nonsense, and a non-sequitur besides.

Tired of the “Trump is playing 4D chess” silliness, too. He’s made plenty mistakes.

Overall he was a GREAT business man, but his workings with gov leave a bit to be desired. He did good, largely means well, but his ego gets in the way and he also seems to be a bit foolish with picking people (SCOTUS has been OK though).

. So he conducted himself, especially in public.

And many people then were turned off by his public conduct and were fence sitters too.

Understand leadership. It is hard to lead and detractors do not help.

Detractors do help the enemy though.

The point is that Trump is in the battle and remains in the battle. Repeat that, not the piddly stuff you do not like or if you discuss the piddly stuff, view it from higher ground. Teach others, inspire through the little things.
