High School Student Violently Attacks English Teacher Reportedly After Poor Classroom Evaluation [GA]

A Gwinnett County School District English teacher suffered a violent attack from one of his students, according to reports and video footage.

A student at Discovery High School in Lawrenceville, Georgia, was recorded hitting his teacher multiple times on school property Tuesday, according to cellphone video footage shared with WSB-TV2.

The video depicts what seems to be the high school student and the teacher engaging in a short discussion before the student is seen striking the teacher repeatedly with his fists. The student continues to beat the English teacher even after one of his blows forces the latter off his feet, as seen in the video footage.

The teacher received help from a separate student, who can be seen in the video tackling the suspected attacker off of the teacher. The recording also captures a separate student claiming the teacher received a bloody mouth in the altercation.

The teacher’s wife spoke anonymously about her husband’s reported beating to WSB-TV2. She said her husband sustained injuries to the head, as well as a bloody mouth and a feeling of dizziness, the outlet reported.

“I don’t think people should have the crap beat out of them when they go to work,” his wife told WSB-TV2. “I just want the students and the teachers to be safe, because my husband signed up to be a teacher. He loves his job.”

The reported attack happened after the teacher spoke to the student’s parents Monday about his poor classroom performance, according to WSB-TV2. The teacher’s wife said she was thankful her husband’s attack wasn’t worse, and called for better safety measures for students and teachers, the outlet continued.

“I just would like better security. And I would like for a student not have to be the one that pulls another student off of my loved one,” she told WSB-TV2.

The Gwinnett County school board recently faced frustrated parents when the district released numbers showing an increase in violent fights within the school system after it relaxed its policies on violence, 11ALIVE reported.

Gwinnett County Schools experienced a 35% increase in fights across its schools from August through October, compared to the same three months in the 2021-22 school year, the outlet reported. The school board’s numbers found that at the end of the first three months of the 2022-23 school year, there have been 638 fights, according to 11ALIVE.

Discovery High School and Gwinnett County Public Schools did not respond to the Daily Caller’s request for comment.

No head stomping was reported so I’m still unclear about the perp’s “identity”

I will not judge other cultures in how they conduct their educational traditions within the sacred confines of the inviolable privacy of the classroom.

The reported attack happened after the teacher spoke to the student’s parents

Parents? Plural? I doubt it.

I taught for decades in an urban school district. And I’ll estimate that maybe 10% of the attacks on teachers made it to the evening news. Our administrators weren’t very good at providing a safe learning environment. But they sure were good at covering things up.

Oh, and it was a firing offense to call the city police. You were supposed to call the school police instead. Why? The school board could bury school police reports. They couldn’t bury city police reports.

Apparently enforcing rules against violent behavior has a disparate statistical impact and violates standards of equity. It’s better that teachers are beaten.

I guessing, but it looks like the parent-teacher conference resulted in the student being punished in some way, loss of cellphone, etc. and the student decided to punish the teacher for his giving a bad grade to the student.

Now, here in my county, the student would be automatically expelled from the public schools system for attacking a teacher, and if under age 16 be required to take classes at a separate county school for ‘bad students’ where the parents are required to provide transportation, etc.........................

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Yes, the student's fists might be injured by repeated high-energy impacts against the hard bones of the teacher's face.

I was recently commenting in another thread that school police forces are a bad idea, as it makes it too easy for school systems to sweep incidents under the rug. Having police / sheriff’s deputies on site who are not beholden to the school system is A Good Thing.

Here in GA, we have school police forces. I was talking with a Florida FReeper, and apparently they do not. It doesn’t mean things can’t get all screwed up by the sheriff’s dept. (see Parkland), but you at least have a better chance of things coming to light.

“Plural? I doubt it.”

Nah, in a world where the plural is redefined as the singular (they, their), why can’t the plural (parents) be redefined to mean the singular?

The modern rules of today’s grammar are a lot more complicated than when we studied them in fourth grade.

You are obviously not up to speed on NewSpeak and are still capable of expressing counterrevolutionary thoughts. Report to your local Commissar for your needed struggle sessions.
