Me either, don't get the fuss.
Quentin, I can understand how you feel about the MCU. As a marvel fan, where Disney took marvel is disappointing to me.
Most of them are just liberal political hacks trying to make the far-left look “heroic.” Future Marvel “actors” are currently doing toilet paper commercials.
Tarantino claimed moviegoers only cared about superheroes on screen no matter who was playing them.

Not true.

To the girls out there, if you have a boyfriend with Batman parapherania all over his apartment, run far away. Otherwise, you might end up marrying some overgrown kid who can't cook for himself or make his own bed in the morning.
He’s right about the worthlessness of the movies, but most of the actors with big roles in them were already “stars” and don’t lose that status for appearing in clunkers.
Now philosophy has become woke, but like the movies, an increasing number of people are saying that philosophy is pointless. After all, there is still no agreement on whether or not there is a God, whether or not we have free will, etc.
Will the wokesters who do "Feminist Philosophy", "Intersectional Philosophy", and "Queer Philosophy" get their panties in a bunch because the scientific community specifically, and the community in general now dismiss philosophy as mere mental masturbation?
I would love to see “Once upon a time in the west” redone by QT.
Are there exceptions? Sure, once every year or two. But for the most part, woke crap.
there is a reason these movies are failing besides the woke messaging. at some point the well runs dry and the saturation of the market kills it as a money maker. This happen to westerns in the 1970s all the studios were making them and they stoped bringing the public into the movie theaters. there will be the new big story telling jonra with new directors making there mark we just have to watch the studios burn through their money riding failure till the independent content creator discovers the formula that works.
1) Several of these movies have earned over a billion dollars at the box office. The customers like them. Tarantino is part of “the industry” — so what I see here is “the industry” criticizing the customers for obsessing with products that aren’t good. That seems a little like elected politicians criticizing voters as “deplorables”.
2) Also, customers may buy tickets, but the customers don’t make the movies. Tarantino’s peers in the industry are making these things. Tarantino seems to be criticizing a few movies, but what he ought to emphasizing is that his industry is soulless and obsessed with profit and doesn’t mind turning out crap. Don’t say “the movies are bad”. Say “Hollywood is bad”.
Yeah, and Martin Scorcese doesn’t consider the current super-hero films to be real movies, they’re just a product (not saying they’re all awful, some are entertaining).
You may be seeing a pattern. Scorcese and Tarantino frequently do their own screenplays and then direct the film. I don’t like all of their films, but at least they try and put original movies on the screen. It’s kind of like the current crop of musical ‘artists’ whose only talent is lip-synching to pre-recorded music vs someone like Paul Simon or Loretta Lynn.
well, he’s not wrong...
I figure he’s entitled to his expert opinion...what’s the big deal?
“I loved the ‘Golden Age’ too.. but it was white as hell.” ~ Simu Liu
Ironic that this is coming from an Asian guy. Asians are the most homogenous group of people in the world.
The CGI techs are the real stars.
They are comic book movies, based on comic books. Personally they leave me totally unmoved - nothing more than special effects extravaganzas. Sure Scarlett Johansson looks great in a black body suit, but that’s it.
Bwah hah hah hah hah!
I agree with him. The actors in these films do very little acting, while the CGI Department creates the movie. A “Movie Star” is someone with depth and breadth of talent and the ability to carry a film without all the special effects. Can ANY of these new Hollywood thespians hold a candle to Carry Grant or Audrey Hepburn and the rest of the Hollywood giants? No, no they cannot. Same goes for Directors.
