Last night I caught Dick Morris' show on Newsmax. In his first segment, Morris stated that Democrat early voting numbers were way ahead of the GOP. Morris acknowledged that many GOP voters intend to wait until election day to vote because they don't trust early voting. Morris opined that this was a mistake because "stuff can happen", a kid can get sick, a severe toothache can result in an emergency visit to the dentist etc. Waiting until the last day to vote, therefore, may not go as intended. Meanwhile, the majority of Dem ballots have already been submitted. Morris stated that this may have been one reason the 2020 election did not result in GOP victory.
I'm wondering if anyone has any opinions, pro or con, on this issue.
“Always WRONG” morris speaks again.
I don’t see how early voting is even constitutional! The constitution says Election Day is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November; does not say two weeks ahead or anything else.
Early voting isn't the problem, mail in voting is where the fraud is happening. Show up to the polling place with an ID and that's about as secure as voting can be. Sending ballots willy-nilly with no safeguards or verifications makes it easy for democrat ballot stuffers to run amok.
And those “secret” ballot watermarks are only visible to to those who have the super secret purple light ring.
Bloated moron is a perfect description of Dick ToeSucker Morris.
We could do the same thing if it is to our advantage.
I am not sure it is.
Don’t watch Newsmax!
I think it cost Trump votes in 2020 when he discouraged mail-in voting in the middle of a pandemic.
There will always be people who have every intention of going to the polls on Election Day and then for whatever reason, just don't make it.
Democrats, on the other hand, were like, "Vote by mail! It's so easy!" And people did.
If you can vote early, vote early. If you are even the slightest bit lazy (and you know who you are) vote by mail.
Sometimes life happens and if you wait until Election Day, something may come up and you might not make it to the polls.
BS.
A toothache?
What did people 200 years ago have to go thru to vote on a single day?
All those scenarios AND deathly illness (no medical help), bad weather, walking miles?
If those people can do it, so can our pampered spoiled butts.
There is ZERO reason these spoiled-rotten “voters” can’t make it for all of 15 min out of a day they know about WELL in advance.
“…then, just don’t make it..”
Yeah,like, they’re now DEAD.
Another reason this early vote crap is just that. The votes of dead people may now count whereas before, only the dead in the cemetery might have voted. On Election Day, only those who might have a stake in the next few months should be counted.
I don’t even get the photo ID need. I appreciate Amish concerns about not having photos, but I want their votes.
All we need is 2 proofs of residence and ID, such as bills, etc. I had to do that for car registration, etc, and that should be more than sufficient.
Hell, we’re still required to “register” to vote and they still give us Regis. Cards! Yet you’re not even made to show those Regis cards at the poll!
I live in Florida and I agree. In the contested Bush election of 2000, they excluded military ballots (legitimately mailed and postmarked in from the APO) until after all the counting was done and the Dems had already lost and we’re contesting the results.
They knew these ballots would be mostly GOP or conservative.
DeSantis has done a lot of work to make Florida election procedures better and less vulnerable to fraud, but still, if you can avoid voting by mail, I think you should do so. Vote early if it’s more convenient but vote by mail only if you have to do so because you willl be away.
I would like to vote any time I like.
But that doesn’t mean I should accept it because it is something Leftists have worked hard to implement so that they can engage in illegal behavior.
One of many reasons.
On one hand, you have the diehards who post on Free Republic and will crawl over broken glass to get to the polls.
On the other hand, you have the less dedicated voters, and both sides have plenty of these people. These are the ones who intend on voting and then for whatever reason, --maybe it's raining, maybe the lines are long, maybe they had to work late, whatever, and don't show up. Their votes count just the same as yours and mine do.
These people need to be encouraged to vote by the easiest, simplest means available, whether early voting or by mail. Just vote.
Morris is absolutely right. As long as early voting and mail voting are options, and they will be for the foreseeable future, our side needs to take just as much advantage of this as the Democrats do.
The wife and I will be there first thing tommorrow morning
For once I agree with dm
Indeed - why aren’t we allowed to sit on our fat butts and just press radio buttons on our laptops to vote?
Good God, this “easy” thing - absolutely asinine.
If you can’t get your butt there sans major accident emergency, you probably should not vote.
Capitalism is in play here. These bastard commies will look at “how popular” early/mail-it-in/phone-it-in/Internet-it is and CONTINUE.
We should NOT do it just to show it is NOT as popular as they wish and will be easier to STOP because people still vote heavily ON a single day.
I totally understand the mindset.
However, the OTHER mindset is that you are feeding the beast - they look at numbers and tell us “we can’t stop - everyone is doing it!”.
So the banana-republic process continues - and never ends.
Why is it this nonsense never really showed AT ALL until just 10 years ago?
Why? One simply has to bee in line before the closing bell.
looks like her ballot should have bee thrown out. see my next post.
