I unfortunately live about 20 minutes from where Zeldin lives. I saw a sign for Hochul today on the side of the road when I was driving, I came *this* close to running the damn thing over. If she wins or more likely manages to steal the election, this state is finito, toast, kaput. The only reason I’m here is to take care of a sick parent who refuses to move, but if this psychopath Hochul wins, and she is a psychopath, I’m going to insist we move. I’m not sticking around as gangs start taking over neighborhoods demanding protection money.
Suffolk was always a middle-class area. Safe and clean.
Too unsettling. I grew up in Stony Brook and it was as safe and idyllic as I can ever imagine a town being. Kids walked and rode bikes everywhere and went to the beach all day together in the summer, we always felt completely safe, it was like Mayberry but with water and a university. We also hung out in Port Jefferson and Setauket and it just felt like you were at home wherever we went. Really a perfect childhood! Haven’t been back in over 20 years and in my mind it’s still wonderful, makes me sad to hear that the reality is much different. I guess the old adage “You can’t go home again” is sadly true.
I watched a TV newscast at lunch and they interviewed Kathy Hochul about the shooting in the front porch of Representative Lee Zeldin. Hochul said ‘luckily no one was injured’ and then went on an anti-gun rant.
What? what about the two 17 year old boys that were hit from the drive by shooting? (a third kid managed to run away). The two kids were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Are those kids invisible? they don’t count? In the newscast they were talking about how crime was spreading from the ‘inner city’ to the suburbs... So none of the people that get killed in the ‘inner city’ matter?
This is bad, no wonder other cities like Chicago have thousands of deaths a year, the inner city citizens don’t matter, and are not even worth mentioning.
