Too unsettling. I grew up in Stony Brook and it was as safe and idyllic as I can ever imagine a town being. Kids walked and rode bikes everywhere and went to the beach all day together in the summer, we always felt completely safe, it was like Mayberry but with water and a university. We also hung out in Port Jefferson and Setauket and it just felt like you were at home wherever we went. Really a perfect childhood! Haven’t been back in over 20 years and in my mind it’s still wonderful, makes me sad to hear that the reality is much different. I guess the old adage “You can’t go home again” is sadly true.
Just spent some couple of years there. SB. It’s idyllic. As she we grew up, 15 miles west, north of 25A is out of the alligator pit. For now. Let’s see if we can’t drag the low energy Zeldin across the finish line kicking and screaming
