EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners

DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

From FaceBook:

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

Where is Sally that Vlad needs to watch her needy cat? Oops. None of my business!

I always enjoy time with my FS because I know those days are numbered. When I get back to Utah, I’ll have to settle for once or twice a year to see them. But it is what it is.

Jakejakejake. What is WRONG with you, Jake?? You silly critter! Maybe he won’t be so insistent to go out in the rain at 0200 next time! LOL! I’m sorry, Jake, but I got a good laugh out of you, buddy!

That appointment this morning set my day off on the wrong foot. It’s a good thing I took my BP before I left, because it was so high she wouldn’t even record it at the office. I knew it was going to be that way so, I’m glad I took a photo of it.

I got home, and though I had things I wanted to do, I just sat.

And here it is after noon already. And nothing is done.

Back around 2000 a bunch of software developers met to discuss why software development projects go so badly. They came up with a thing called the Agile Manifesto, which is slowly changing the way software is developed. The Manifesto is composed of 4 values and 12 principles.

I only mention this so I can share one of the 12 principles.

Simplicity—the art of maximizing the amount of work not done—is essential.

So, Face, you’re doing something essential.

Sally is touristing in Chicago with her boyfriend.

Tom and I cut the cats’ claws, to their great sadness. I’m thinking of a nap now.

I hope Sally and her boyfriend are appropriately armed.

Nah, they’re too good for that. Only racists worry about crime.

W00t!

I was going to start my last post to you with that, but got side-tracked by reading about Sally’s needy cat. My bad. Again.

Well, gloriosky! Whodathunkit? Maybe I should do more of it. That “essential” nothing. I dunno, though, ArGee. It gets old after a while.

But I get this way when I’m in the relapse phase the disease. It seems to be what my body needs at the time, but not necessarily what I want to do. I roll with it because it helps to get me past whatever the disease is trying to make my body do — the various symptoms. If I don’t fight it, they go away sooner than if I tried to fight my way through it.

It’s taken over 30 years to learn that lesson, though. Mostly the hard way. ;o]

Yes, naptime is a good time, and I’m thinking of that myself. However, I’ll wait another hour or so before I do, and maybe it will help me to sleep tonight.

I keep thinking I should get up at 0500 every day, rather than get up at that time one day, and the next sleep in. Maybe that’s why my sleep is so messed up. Anyway, I’m going to try it for a week to see what happens!

Poor cats. They should have been rewarded with petroleum jelly. ;o]

Jake got a few claws into Tom, which is only fair.

That's what the "experts" say is best. Whether it's best or not, I can't sleep in past my weekday wakeup time anyway so I just get up.

Yes, true, but if they knew they would get a treat afterwards, they might not be so lethal!

Oh, crikey, I’m thinking I need to be someone else who is somewhere else, because I can’t remember being so tired for so long. It’s the relapse, but it’s heading off into a different direction with a whole new complex of symptoms. I need to make sure I log it all.

And with that, I’m heading for bed. See you tomorrow.

I always got up at 0500 when I worked, even on my days off. It’s only been since I’ve been here that I shifted my alarm to different times on different days, and I believe I’m regretting it. So I’ll go back to the 0500 every day. (Except Monday, which is 0230 so I can have the laundry room to myself!)

See you tomorrow! I’m studying Diocesan documents in preparation for the Stewardship meeting tomorrow. I had a very informative talk with the Parish Council chairwoman this morning. Our governance is a mess, but she’s a real trouper.

You’ll have to write to me about it all! Seems I’ve got a couple of cards I need to answer, soon.

See ya tomorrow!

Haven’t been in much over the Holidays. Busy with family things.

Turning into a modestly tempestuous evening. Dark gray clouds rolling in heavy, now, but rain not expected to be more than 1/10th of an inch an hour, so not continuously heavy. Upper 50’s, presently, and blustery; gusts expected to top 60mph now & again. Probably be a lotta trees down & maybe some power lines, too, by tomorrow morning. Media is, predictably, hyperventilating.

I guessed this 5-letter word in 4/6 tries.

🟨⬛⬛🟨⬛
🟩⬛🟩🟩⬛
🟩⬛🟩🟩⬛
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Can you guess this word?

Thanks. We’ll see how “big” it ends up being. More powerful gusts than usual, but only modest rain, so we’re getting far more wind than wet.

So far.

What’s concerning in the wake is, that the wind can lift the edges of any asphaltic shingle roofing that isn’t properly adhered to the layer beneath it, and that can permit rain to get blown up under there where it can find its way into your attic. My roof is fairly new, so I’m not terribly worried. Got neighbors, tho, who’re gonna have it a bit rough, I think. Our last storm wasn’t as gusty as this one, and I found a few bits of their roof in my yard.
