EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. I’ll be staying home. And keeping a low profile.
It’s 14° out, and I just want to go back to bed.
A water line broke in the church sometime in the last few days, so no water fountain and no toilet facilities.
The job that FS has been on the last week was all for nothing. The house evidently has a waterline in the ceiling (for whatever reason) and it burst, flooding everything he did. The power was still on so it was a potentially dangerous deal. The people were going to sell it, as they’ve already moved to Maryland, but it may not be salvageable.
We had ham for dinner last night, but I only had two small, thin slices. Not my favorite meal, these days, but it was OK. It certainly didn’t help the situation.
I hope I feel better after my shower, because I’m certainly not feeling all that great right now!
PW made pumpkin pie and the crust was actually Clubhouse Crackers. It was OK. It seems most pie crusts these days are nothing but surprises, either too tough and chewy or too soggy and bland.
Since they got back from Europe, it seems they both have exercised no restraint on food intake. It breaks my heart to see them so heavy.

Sally and her boyfriend have moved on to their next thing, lunch with his family. They may be back here for supper. The group going to church will be leaving at noon. Pat and James and the Dog are here until Whenever.
DP is making Key lime pie. The crust looks a little burned, but I won’t say anything.
I’m waiting for PW to come and get me for lunch and some football. I’ll leave at half-time. They can afford all the streaming TV service they want, but I’ll stick with the free ones and all those that are included with Roku.
I just want to sleep through the night and not wake up until I have to in order to go wash clothes.
I’d rather be washing them in Hurricane...

We survived Mass. DP forgot to bring his guitar - just brought the case - and then, on the first effort, James brought a right-handed guitar, and then, just in time, Tom showed up with a left-handed one.
We changed the order of the songs so we could do our new Spanish one, which went really well.
Anoreth’s Dog has decided that James is sufficiently close to Anoreth that Dog has to defend him with great loud Woofs from people coming into the house. We all got an individual round of barking just for us.
Jake is unhappy and wants me to go to bed with him.

I put up with as much as I could before I pulled the “it’s time to put the old lady to bed” thing. The football game was good, but it would have been better if PW wasn’t giving me play-by-plays, like I had no idea what football was about!
Lunch was more of yesterday’s dinner, and it was just too much. So I declined dessert.
Now, I’m going to take my pills and begin to get ready for bed. My apartment is warm and it’s quiet. :o])
My feet got so cold at the Other Folks’ place that the arthritis in the arch bones rubbed up against the clog and gave me a blister on each foot in the same place.
My goodness! It sounds like everything connived to end up perfectly well in the end at Mass!
That’s funny about Dog! But if s/he seems to think James is a good substitute for Anoreth, then that works!
I went to bed with Jake for a while. It’s been a rough week for the cats, with strange people here and then the dog.
I’m sorry about your feet. Mine hurt, too.
I’ll have to go back to the sneaks for a while, but I like the clogs in the winder because they keep my feet off the cold ground better than any of my other shoes.
It’s 26° out and we’re supposed to have snow around 0600. I plan to be back asleep by then. The alarm rang and whatever I was dreaming must have been good, because I thought it was the phone (even though it’s a totally different ring) and said, “Oh, no!” swiped the blue screen and said, “Hello” and then realized the icons were showing.
I sat on the edge of the bed and said, “What the heck.” By then I was “awake” enough to realize it was the alarm, and I needed to get up and start my day. Silly me. I don’t like this feeling of foreboding. My first thoughts are always to my kids.
Off to do laundry!

Good morning. You did sort of find that word out of nowhere.
I had a night of Jake. One of today’s activities will be sweeping up all the dog fur from yesterday.
Yes, that word came after eliminating a lot of consonants and all but two vowels. I hate when I do that.
Jake must have been having one of his less macho moments. Or a lot of them.
I need to go take a short nap. My eyelids are trying to slam shut!

I washed the frog blanket and it did shrink. Not sideways, just lengthwise, and not by much. Which is OK. I’m going to put a blanket stitch around the edges of it, as it just has a faint stitch around it. I’m afraid it might not be enough.
Anyway, off to the nap!
I hope you enjoy the nap. I just told Frank to get up. He’s going to chicken-butchering at his friend’s house this morning.
