EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.
From FaceBook:
Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

Good morning. Happy Monday!
We made it there and back again. We got a lot more of the rain than we wanted. The weekend was good and the dog had no issues. On I-88 there’s a road sign that reads, “Endless Mountain Region Next 6 Exits.” I’m not sure they mean the same thing by “endless” as I do. But that’s New York.
After being in short sleeves on Saturday, it was 34 fs this morning. As Mrs. ArGee says, “You just can’t drop 30 or 40 degrees in one day. There are consequences.”
And here’s this.

Indeed they are!!
Good morning. Did you have a good night?
It’s still very cold out — 25Β°. It was nice and warm in my bed, and I was having a nice dream and didn’t want to wake up!
Anyway, it’s another day. I need to get Charlie’s birthday card out in the mail. If my hands will let me.
Good Monday Morning!
Supposed to get a bit more rain today, it has that chilly, raw feel to the air...
Glad that your trip was nice, ArGee, and that Princess did well!
Starting out the week with a positive in my quest to get my 3s closer to my 5s... after today, a deficit of 5...

I’ve gotten my 3’s within 4. But I’ve had them that close in the past and then the 5’s take off.
Good jobs, Guys, solving the Wordles!!
Glad to know your trip went well, ArGee, and that Princess Dog had no problems.
Yeah, Zee, your weather is a lot like ours, only warmer. ;o]
I had them very close, within 1 or 2, for quite some time, then the 5s took off like a banshee... trying to tame them back!

You too as well!
We are a bit warmer in temps it seems lately... it also seems that you guys often get the rain storms that we do, about a day later...
Yeah, because I have friends in Vegas, and a daughter and brother in CO, as well as FRiends in TX, I'm often watching the weather as it comes east.
When I see what it's doing in the Rockies, I start to watch the barometer and the storm glass. Of course, my body often tells me what's coming long before the instruments do!
If the pattern holds, you won’t be getting much rain from our direction, very light rain here, not expected to be much at all... could see the sun peak out before dark this evening...
Cold here. I went to physical therapy, and then engaged in a snafu regarding Tom the Son’s car, and then went to Walmart, and now I’d really like to go to bed with Jake, but we’re going to the farm of the lady from church to see what work she has for the bros.
So far, I rate this day as Two Unnngh.
Ohdear. It must be Monday with two Munnghs.
I’d like to go to bed and get warm but I just remembered I haven’t made the bed since I got back from the laundry room. I need to do that. After lunch.
It will continue plugging along until after Cub Scouts. Then I can go to bed with Jake. On the good news side, the trip to the farm is only 24 minutes, not anything crazy. When the lady gave me the directions, she didn’t know where I was starting from.
Have fun at the farm!
I’m going to make my bed because I’m cold now, and it’s beginning to be that time of day when bed is really inviting.
Anyway, I’ll see you when you get back.
Been out of the loop...
Did you know there are LOTS AND LOTS of them?
Like Lewis’ “Wood between The Worlds”: endless identical looking pools enforested by endless identical looking trees.
If you ever get out of your loop, plant a flag on the way out or you may not ever find that loop, again.
Traveling in the Carolinas and the Virginias the rest of this week & coming back in the wee hours of the morning Monday next; I-77, I-95, US50, US48, US17... Many roads, and it looks like fairly decent — if not stellar — weather along the way.
I guessed this 5-letter word in 4/6 tries.

We got snow in northern AR, and I think US-50 goes along that route. It won’t get out of the 40s today or tomorrow, I think.
I dug out my longjohns, but I don’t think they’ll be enough to keep me warm.
Good job on the Wordle!
How ya’ gonna keep ‘em down on the farm
After they’ve seen Pairee?
How ya gonna keep ‘em away from Broadway?
Jazzin around.
Paintin the town.
That weather’s a bit further south and west, so I’m not too worried. No snow forecast between Parkersburg and Norfolk the next couple days, and it’s slated to warm a bit as next weekend approaches. I’ll have to watch for icy roads as I head north, tho. I rented a Ford Edge, which I’m hoping will be a model that has All-Wheel Drive.
US50 runs a mid-country route from Sacramento to Washington DC by way of Carson City, NV; Pueblo, CO; Dodge City, KS; KC MO and St. Louis; across IL and IN up to Cincinnati, OH; then across WV and VA where it ends at the junction with I-66 around the north side of Arlington National Cemetery.
Enjoy your trip and the great weather!
Yes, I plan to use US 50 on my return west because I-40 scared about 10 years off my life!
You’re on my prayer list so I figure no matter what, you’ll be safe wherever you’re driving. ;o]
