Jeep has developed a new type of windshield wiper designed to clear dirt and mud from the glass in just one wipe.
The Clean Sweep: Jeep is a new accessory kit available from the Mopar parts catalog for the current generation Wrangler and Gladiator trucks.
The package includes new wiper arms and blades with 12 laser-cut holes that spray washer fluid as they sweep across the windshield.
The traditional spray nozzles are deactivated, and the fluid is rerouted to the blades through tubing that comes with the package.
When the washer is activated, fluid begins flowing a beat before the wipers start to move, creating a leading edge of liquid that helps clear the glass.
Some other vehicles feature spray nozzles located on the wiper arms to create a similar effect, but Jeep's 12-hole blade design is less common and similar to one used by Mercedes-Benz.
Jeep said the technology will help eliminated the "blind seconds" that are often created when traditional wipers smear debris across a windshield for a couple of passes before they start clearing it away. This is particularly useful off-road for driving through the sorts of puddles and other muck the Wrangler and Gladiator were designed to tackle.
The kit is available now and priced at $140, including two sets of blades. Pricing for additional blades has not been released.
Jeep also addressed the topic of forward vision last year when it introduced a new line of Mopar windshields for the Wrangler and Gladiator made from the sort of chip-resistant Gorilla Glass used on smartphones.

If it was really meant to be an improvement, it would have spinning brushes to take the mud off.
The 3.6 has had head problems. We bought my wife a jk in 2012. They had to replace driver side head. This was not uncommon. After the warranty ran out, the cam phasers started messing up. I sold it.
She now uses my 2004 tj unlimited as her Go into town vehicle.
Had the LJ 18 years, no major problems. Love that straight 6 4.0 .

Bought my last Cherokee Xj for $250, drove it for 200K miles and sold it for $500.
It was a different world.
Looking for more, but much harder to find, and lots more expensive.
I know plenty of jeepers and have yet to hear about engine issues.
My ‘18 JL has 30k on it and the motor hasn’t as much as had a hiccup.
I will admit though I didn’t do my due diligence before buying it. I’m probably the only dumbass in the world that didn’t know Jeep outsources their 3.6 engines from Fiat.
Had I known that it would have more than likely been enough of an issue for me to look at getting something else.
Previous vehicle was a Toyota Tacoma.....in comparison the overall quality of the jeep just isn’t there.....and boy do I miss my truck bed.
But like I said, it runs fine.

Which means Jeep "invented" exactly nothing. All they've done is alter minor details of existing products and called it "new."

Our 1979 Chrysler New Yorker had this type of wiper system. It was about the only thing that worked on that car. Chrysler eventually refunded all of my dad’s money. Other than that, the soft Corinthian leather seats were nice.

Just wait until the oil filter housing/cooler goes teats up on you. It’s not if but when. It’s a plastic part that WILL fail and when it does it is buried deep between the cylinder banks under the intake and fuel delivery system. I believe Chrysler quotes it as a 5 hour job. It is such a common problem that Dorman, the aftermarket parts maker, now offers an aluminum replacement. File this post away in your memory because there WILL come a day that you begin to smell coolant when you park your Jeep and you’ll wonder where 3 quarts of oil went since you aren’t burning it and there’s none on the ground. Just look in the vee between the cylinder banks and there will be your oil. In my mind this is THE BIGGEST fatal flaw with this stupid mini van motor. Good news though MOPAR’s newest motor will be a 3 liter inline 6. I’m beginning to see why there’s so many used jeeps for sale at dealerships
That was not my experience when trying to buy a used Wrangler Unlimited in 2021. I limited my search to 2018 or newer so I would have the 8 speed auto transmission with slightly better gas mileage. The difference in price for comparable vehicles was so small that I opted to purchase a new vehicle. I have been surprised that Jeeps hold value as well as they do. As gas prices increased I opted to sell the Jeep and recovered 100% of my cost.
