That was not my experience when trying to buy a used Wrangler Unlimited in 2021. I limited my search to 2018 or newer so I would have the 8 speed auto transmission with slightly better gas mileage. The difference in price for comparable vehicles was so small that I opted to purchase a new vehicle. I have been surprised that Jeeps hold value as well as they do. As gas prices increased I opted to sell the Jeep and recovered 100% of my cost.

The market has been in shambles for two years.

However, it may be Jeeps hold their value better than other FWD vehicles.

I got excellent values on my last three: Dodge with Cummings Diesel 3/4 ton 4WD PU, Nissan Titan 4WD PU; and Mitusbishi Outlander 4WD SUV.
