HGTTG is the best. You may also enjoy Dirk Gentry.

I will stick to three as the question asked.

When Worlds Collide By Edward Balmer and Philip Wylie
Gladiator By Philip Wylie
The Day of the Triffids By John Wyndham

I like the old ones before the space race technology of the late 50s aided writers with their thinking.

The 3 I re-read most often: Calculating God by Robert Sawyer,
Little Fuzzy by H. Beam Piper &
the Probability Broach by L.Neil Smith.

not the most important; just highly re-readable.

***FRANKENSTEIN by Mary Shelley, 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA by Verne, and THE WAR OF THE WORLDS and THE TIME MACHINE by Wells.***

Read them all! And many more!

Every time I think of the Eloi in THE TIME MACHINE I think of John Lennon’s “IMAGINE” song. The Eloi had it! Till dinner time for the Morlocks.

I have not read the Foundation Trilogy. I have read Ringworld and loved it.
I would love to see it made into a movie, or a series of movies.
My contribution to the list is Dune.

But yes I think Craig has run his course also. I have yet to see the last 007.

I view Craig as a thug. As a henchman. Not as a confident secret agent we've imagined him to be. Now we're in the woke era, I am not sure if we will be happy with the next actor playing 007.

"What are the three best science fiction books ever written?"

An utterly pointless question if you don't define "best."

The Martian Chronicles were by Bradbury, not Burrows.
Dunno about books but a few of the best stories.
Who Goes There? By John Campbell. (basis for The Thing)
Nightfall by Asimov.
Shadow out of Time and Mountains of Madness by Lovecraft.
