I’m not a fan of wild conspiracy theories. So except for one thing, I would have gone with your belief.
That one thing is Jack Ruby. Ruby was not just some plumber or school teacher. He was a nightclub owner with ties to organized crime, and he silences Oswald forever. That sure does point to a conspiracy.

Per a documented meeting that included LBJ, Richard Nixon, Henry Kissinger, J. Edger Hoover and John McCone which culminated in an inside US government coup d’ tat that sanctioned the mafia to carry it out.
I blame the propaganda the Russians poured into Oswald’s brain. My guess is he thought he’d get a heroes welcome back in Moscow.

LBJ was corrupt, lacked any ethics, and hated the Kennedys.
He would likely have been replaced in the next election.

I never believed that cock-and-bull story about Ruby being grief-stricken over JFK’s death. It was an obvious hit.

Ya. I don’t think Jackie could override Texas state law concerning murder autopsies (and especially murder of a sitting President). Those guys were almost drawing guns with each other. (Would Jackie really have sanctioned what could have turned into a gun battle over who had control over JFK’s body?)

Understatement.
LBJ had the strongest motive, Ruby had mob friends, but the actual timeline and facts of what happened prove that Oswald acted alone. For instance, Oswald forgot a garment and went back to get it, or else he would have been out of the building before Ruby arrived.
Moscow/Cuba was the original CIA cover story.
The “Moscow/Cuba” gambit is what LBJ used when he told Earl Warren to set up an “investigation” and to do whatever Allen Dulles and J Edgar Hoover told him to do.
The CIA created a double of Oswald (pre assassination) to keep investigators after the fact running around in circles. That is a classic intelligence agency approach. The great Le Carre novel detailing the tactic is “The Little Drummer Girl”.
Santos Traficante supposedly confessed that he and Carlos were involved in the hit right before he died according to Frank Ragano. Ragano recounted what Santos said in Sicilian that Carlos messed up and should have hit Bobby instead.
Proof? No. Of course not. There will never be an end to this mess. But the account makes sense.

Execution details? Who knows? Oswald was one of the shooters and patsy based on hard evidence. Likely a 2nd shooter behind the fence where the puff of smoke was seen for the fatal head shot.
While there are countless people and organizations with motives — the hate for Bobby was up close and personal with Carlos who was grabbed and put on a plane to Central America and left in the jungle to die. He barely made it out with his life.
When the mob picked up Carlos he said he would kill Bobby. However he took out JFK instead. “Marcello told Ed Becker that “the dog {President Kennedy} will keep biting you if you only cut off its tail {the attorney general},” but the biting would end if the dog’s head was cut off.”

I met Roselli in person Christmas of 1975 at a neighbors Christmas family get together.
After I left the USAF I was finishing college in Miami and my small kids were friends with the kid next door so we were invited over for Christmas dinner.
The reason I remember him so clearly was he was wearing dark wireframe sunglasses at night in the house much like you would see a blind man wear.
I was introduced to him and being young thinking who is this old coot? He was a friend of the father of the neighbor.
Then I remember in 1976 the neighbor came over to tell us that this man was found floating in a barrel and the Feds came over to talk to them about this dead witness who was to tell the feds about the mob killing Kennedy.
I then realized that my family could have been killed if the mob decided to wipe everyone out that Christmas.
The hit was probably Mafia but the cover-up was all LBJ.
There are some who speculate (with some pretty decent supporting circumstantial evidence) that JD Tippit was set up to be killed in order to frame Oswald, and that the Dallas PD would take care of Oswald to avenge their fellow cop. At the time of Oswald's arrest, the DPD were looking for him over the Tippit shooting and he was only later connected to JFK.
By this theory, Ruby was only cleaning up what others had hoped the DPD would take care of.
