My best friend and great girl dog is off to a better place. This sweet rescue lab mix was struck with a very aggressive Lymphoma. Her suffering was mercifully short and we saw her off this afternoon. She was diagnosed last Friday and we had the weekend to be with her and enjoy her company. She was really my wife's dog at heart. When we went to pick a rescue she immediately ran to my wife and wouldn't leave her side the whole time we looked over the dogs so of course she came home with us. She truly loved the family and we helped her have a wonderful dog life with free range on our acreage. Never a moments' issue. We are grateful she blessed us with her love and we miss her beautiful, loving, silly, fun presence. God speed Kellie. Thank all you Freepers for allowing me this vanity post.
You mean your best friend is a bitch.
Or was.
I think this b!tch gets to go to Heaven.
Thanks for the post. Sucks to lose them :(
Every moment with a favorite pet is a treasured moment.
If she was diagnosed only days ago, she must have had tumors develop over a long time. Sometimes, the symptoms do not make themselves known until very late. You did the right thing to end her suffering. Believe you me, putting a pet down is one of the hardest things I’ve ever EVER had to do in my life.
It never gets easier. But you gave her a great life and she gave you all her love. Cherish the time.
I am so sorry for your loss. Sounds like this was one lucky dog to have a loving home like yours. I’m glad her suffering didn’t last long. Now she lives forever-—in your heart and memories.
Losing a loyal hound always rips your guts out. You get over it but you never forget.
What a wonderful sendoff for Kellie and thank you for sharing your post. Most of us remember our losses and your post brings back our memories.
Always tough to lose a good friend like her. She had a great life with you.
Thank you.
So very sorrry.
So sorry for your loss. They’re part of the family. I bet there’s a new puppy 🐶 out there that needs a home.
All dogs go to Heaven. It wouldn’t be Heaven without them.
G-dspeed to your beautiful pup. Rest in peace, sweet Kellie.
Labs are especially good and noble pups. I’m glad she’s no longer in pain, but I’m sorry about what you’re going through.
Sorry for your loss. You both did your jobs — you blessed her with a good home, and she blessed you with her companionship.
What a fine buncha happy dogs.
Hugs to you. Your post made me tear up. Have fun running and playing over the rainbow bridge, Kelly. Good girl.
“Labs are especially good and noble pups”
Every one I’ve ever met.
I am sorry to hear that. No matter how long it is,our time with them is too short. In June, we lost the yellow lab that walked with my daughter to almost every day of elementary school. She had hoped that they would be in at least a couple of her senior portraits scheduled for the end of this month.
Oh dear. The sorrow from the passing of a cherished pet is like nothing else. I have sympathy for you and your wife and grwat respect for sending her home without delay. It’s never grown easier for me- but it’s the loving thing to do.
My prayers for your comfort and peace. Godspeed, Kellie.
