I like guys who win.

I voted for Trump twice, and I’m a lawyer and I played a small role in his challenge to the results. My question for this board is: why shouldn’t we pick a winner? Trump lost. He lost the election and he lost, pathetically, in the post-election challenges. He lost those legal challenges before Trump-appointed judges as well Bush appointees, Obama appointees, and Clinton appointees.

He’s persuaded 40-something percent of the country but not matter what he does, he cannot – can not – persuade more people. He has not done so and will not do so. It may suck, but it’s a fact.

We have to be grownups and face that fact.

To quote Trump himself, speaking about McCain – “he lost. So I never liked him much after that, because I don't like losers."

Don’t we need a winner -- someone who can actually get elected? The principles we espouse – belief in private property, in the right to bear arms, belief in the biology of the human race (XX= female, XY = male); respect for religion; belief in American exceptionalism – these are principles that most Americans believe in. If Trump espouses those principles and can’t get to, never mind above, 50%, don’t we need to pick someone who can?

You’ll say the election was stolen and that we can’t prevent that from happening again unless the crime is unmasked and punished.

Assuming your premise, just ask yourself this: is Trump able to get the crime punished? Really? The answer, you know it, is “no.”

You’ll say it’s because the other side is corrupt and they cheat. I agree with you. We need someone who can DEFEAT them at that game. Trump has proven that he cannot do so. He is what he called McCain: a loser. He lost. He has no way to unlose, because 50% of the country hates his guts and would sooner vote for Mickey Mouse. You may think that’s ridiculous, but you do not have the legal power to make them vote for your guy instead. It just isn’t going to happen.

We’re the grownups. We have to face facts and deal with facts. Just as half the country supported slavery in 1865, so half the country supports slavery now. We have to have a leader who can LEAD those people to a better place. Ronald Reagan could do that.

We should find a leader who can actually LEAD people to that place. That means not only people like us, who already support these principles, but people who can be PERSUADED to support them.

Trump can not do that. He can’t. He doesn’t have the ability to do it.

The New Yorker, which I know all Freepers read religiously and believe every word it says, has an article up savaging DeSantis. As the National Review points out, the article can’t avoid saying he’s very smart, works very hard, is committed to conservative principles. And he wins elections. And he would win in a walk against Brandon. Shouldn’t we be smart and pick, or at least start looking for, a winner?

They’ve been laughing at Americans for decades with this border con-job. They never had any intention of securing our borders and these sons of bitches prove it year in, year out going back many decades....When these sell out screw worms concoct things like “Immigration reform”, that de facto means open the GD borders wide open.

The Courts are garbage, and there will be no relief to be had from that direction.

Your contempt for the judiciary has been noted for some time now.

One thing Trump did do, was get others to show that there is massive fraud going on in many elections. It is probably why so many red cities and counties “vote” blue. You might be a troll garnering up conservative opinions so the cheaters will know what the opposition is thinking.
Your own opinion is too contrived to be the product of a sincere analyst. Trump won in 2016 against ridiculous odds.....now, he’s a loser? Puhleeze spare us, from such muddled thinking.

The congresscritters hate Americans and love illegals. The congresscritters prove that point, as said, for decades. As the election draws near more leftists will come to FR to say how wrong Americans stating such are wrong as was said. A beginning has begun. Where this beginning goes is democrats, rinos, and the lamestream believe Conservatives can be fooled any place and anytime. The democrats, rinos, and the lamestream media hate this nation and are seeking to destroy this nation. Someone has paid them off yet Americans will never know whom paid whom. It maybe is hopeless but my choice will be to fight with words and ideas while I wait for the probable shooting to begin. I pray God hasn’t turned his back on America and I take comfort the battle is not over. I believe you too to be a fighter for America. God bless you !

While I don’t agree with your analysis of why Trump should not be the nominee of the Republican party in 2024, I agree with your conclusion. It hurts me to say that, and I will not take a back seat to anyone on my support of Trump either. My reasoning for another nominee is strategic. Trump, if elected, becomes a lame duck on day 1 of his second term. I believe we need someone who can serve two consecutive terms.
In DeSantis, I believe we have a younger version of Trump who can be elected to two terms. He is smart - Yale and Harvard Law. Iraq veteran where he served as the legal advisor to Seal Team 1. Former congressman, currently governor of the third most populous state in the union. Also, knows the DOJ swamp having served as a special assistant to a U.S. attorney.
Also, I believe Trump won the 2020 election.

You cannot overturn an election based upon a suspicion. That's why judges - including many appointed by Trump himself and including the US Supreme Court - rejected those claims.

The truth is that 20/20 was an anomalous year for elections because of covid, and because of the different rules states established for elections. It made the normal Democrat get out the vote drives much easier because they didn't have to drive people to the polls like they normally do. I know because I've been an observer and seen it. They just had to get them to open their mail. And they focused those efforts on urban districts because the greater population density meant it was easier to get more votes with the same amount of door to door effort.

Of course there was some fraud. The problem is that it is impossible to quantify how much of the unusual Democratic turnout was due to fraud, and how much was due to the rules that made voting much easier.

The entire argument that different voting patterns in 2020 proved fraud is simply ridiculous.

Agree. Trump is too old and too despised. Whine all you want but he is hated with the same white-hot passion that we hate Hillary with. Just a fact.

That helped him win the first time. Pure Hillary hatred put him over the top. Nobody will change their vote to Trump. People will change their vote to DeSantis though.

But yeah, if he runs again I’ll vote for him as I wouldn’t piss on any democrat even if they were on fire. Unfortunately a vast amount of people feel the same about Trump.

Oh-oh! You done ticked off the Trump fanatics and zombies!
Watch 2000 mules and you’ll be convinced. Trump and America were cheated. Trump didn’t lose, it was stolen, period.
That being said, I pretty much agree with what else you wrote. Trump is polarizing, maybe too polarizing.
I really like DeSantis. I will gladly vote for either in 2024.

“Lawyers and employees of the nation’s law firms have contributed nearly $17 million to presidential campaigns so far this election cycle and 95% of the total has gone to Democrats, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

And there ya have it.

Tell me lurker, which president in modern American history did more bring attention to and actually do something to secure our borders, instead of peddling lip service to America for 50+ years now?

Over 1.6 million illegals were apprehended by Border Patrol in 1986 and in 2000. So Reagan and W must have done something right. Heck, even OBAMA deported more illegals than Trump. Almost like some private sector types care more about keeping labor costs low than they do about the American worker.

Bush

Dallas Texas 2006, during war time, under Republican George Bush.

500,000 illegal aliens march on Dallas Texas pushing foreign flags in our faces and while making demands and threats. All while Bush celebrated Cinco De Mayo up in the White House...During war time.

Trump will never convince hard-core leftists. But there are two things he could do to get over 50%.

One is to lay out proof that convinces people living outside of a social media bubble. No - not every judge and prosecutor in America is on the take.

The other is to stop propping up voter fraud theories that don't pan out. He should never be on the same stage as Mike Lindell, who made some wild claims, invited the world to watch, and didn't deliver. If you can't admit that at least *some* of the voter fraud hubbub has been disproven, well...

you’re still yelling at the umpire two years after the game ended. The ump doesn’t care. Neither do most of the fans.

The "ump" was in on the steal as were the team owners on both sides. Trump won in a landslide.

The "fans" do care; it's only the Left, the Propaganda Media, and you who claim they don't.

As for "two years" after the game ended, it's not over until it's over. Using your sport analogies, in October 2007, Marion Jones surrendered her five medals from the 2000 Summer Olympics after admitting to using steroids.

“ Make an argument for why this is wrong.”

OK.

In this country voters pick their politicians. More than 53% of Republicans support Trump right now.

Your opinions are irrelevant to the process.

[[For context the US-Mexico border is 1,954 miles long.]]

Not all of that has to be walled off- there is a total of around 700 miles or so that must be walled, and he’s done over half, all while being opposed by the left, the msm, courts, states- etc- even by many in his own party-

given what he had to face down- I’d say he did pretty damned well compared to every president before him- who didn’t h ave near the opposition he has had
