~~~~~~~~~~
you’re gonna LOVE it!
No one owns a piece of your time.
Congrats!
(I confess to just a *tinge* of jealousy, though.)
Congratulations on retirement. Now, to figure out how you got everything done while you were working!
Excellent ๐๐๐ !!!
Congratulations !
Congratulations! After my Dad retired he would say “I don’t know how I ever had the time to work.” May you also enjoy your time now!
A bit of the lessons I've learned since joining the club on the last day of 2021...
*USE the daily planner. After having a set routine for five days each week, with responsibilities, duties, problems to solve and deadlines to meet, for may years we become conditioned to these tasks and thoughts. Retirement erases all of this, leaving an emptiness. By using a daily planner, I've forced myself into creating my own tasks, deadlines, responsibilities and problems to solve. There is always some task to do each day. By using a planner, I keep myself focused and have thought of it as being my own employer and my supervisor is me, through the planner. FWIW, I personally prefer a nice 8.5x11โ spiral bound, week at a glance version and a soft lead mechanical pencil with a gum eraser, though I seldom erase. If I miss. a task, a deadline, or my to-do list item remains unaccomplished, I prefer to strike through the item using a right arrow (โโโ>), indicating that the item has been rescheduled to a different date, where I list it again. Each week, I keep a running list of tasks to accomplish and then schedule them.
yes...lots of OCB (it's a behavior, not a disorder), BUT this has kept me busy and focused.
Another โlossโ in retirement is the social interaction with close peers, distant peers in other offices and organizations, contractors and maybe the public. To fill the missing social interaction, I had to increase my current and create new social circles. I did this by finding a gym buddy, attending church and volunteering, getting involved with a home bible study group and organizing events with groups of friends for happy hour, boating, beach day etc.
I say all of this, not to boast, or make any of it about me, but to simply share my perspective and personal solutions, hoping there may be a nugget of value and encouragement.
I wish you the ABSOLUTE BEST in the new chapter of life. May you find great peace and fulfillment.
Final thought...
The other day I remembered all those stressful, sometimes fearful times I worried about being fired, or laid off and โhow am i gonna pay the bills...I'll be homelessโ. Funny thing- in retirement ALL of that stress is gone, like an apparition that never really existed at all.
peace
and God's blessings to you
...that is all
Melian! Retirement!
I will have a beer tonight and celebrate your retirement!
Yes...What Sheep Whisperer said!
Little hack:
My SSA check will be deposited in my account in about 4 days! I use a Credit Union. Spouse-Mouse checks are deposited in the Commercial bank 1 or 2 days later! (I suspect deliberate hold!) Check with your new retirement buddies at Church or the coffee shop for their experience. One extra day to pay the bills may not crucial, but it is nice!
Celebrate your new found freedom! Nap in the after noon, Enjoy a 5:30 relaxed dinner out, watch the Sunset and Stay up late on the 30-31st in case of meteor shower! (Since its now OK To sleep in next day!!)
GEOPHYSICAL DAY ALERT!
“Will the Tau Herculid meteors produce a storm?
Among those who watch the skies โฆ the biggest topic of conversation this week has been the Tau Herculid meteor shower, coming up (maybe) on the night of May 30-31. Have you ever seen a true meteor storm? One with many meteors per second? It happens โฆ and this might be one. Or not. It’s unknown if the meteors will be bright, or faint. It’s unknown how many there will be. It is known that the meteors will travel slowly across the sky ... so be sure to watch in a dark sky area, since slow-moving meteors tend to be fainter. Read about the Tau Herculids.
Mars and Jupiter conjunction this weekend
If youโre an early riser, you’ve probably noticed red Mars inching closer to bright Jupiter in the sky before dawn. Theyโll appear only the width of a full moon apart on May 29. Watch both Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Anyway, congratulations!
Congratulations! ๐ You will soon wonder how you ever had time to work. ๐
