Who knows what happened. But I know some of these cases are total lies. It’s just easier and cheaper to settle them than to fight them. Happened to my dad a few decades ago, with someone we hired for a contract job. I am nearly 100% sure he did nothing inappropriate at all. I was involved in most of the interactions. But she claimed sexual harassment (not exposure or propositioning etc). His lawyers said “just pay her to go away” which he ended up doing. Not cheap but nothing close to $250k (though with inflation, it was a still hefty for the time).
Still it was cheaper than a trial and discovery and depositions and retainers and motions etc etc. Just pay them to go away. Justice system is not just. Good for lawyers for the most part. Not so good for regular people.
Before you consider taking Elon’s side as a kneejerk reaction, a few days back Amber Heard admitted UNDER OATH that Elon gave her a significant amount of money to spend time with her.
