A molar discovered in a cave in Laos shows where the enigmatic Denisovans could have interbred with the ancestors of modern humans.
A tooth found inside of a mountain cave in Laos has solved one of the biggest scientific mysteries of the Denisovans, a branch of ancient humans that disappeared roughly 50,000 years ago.
Since 2010, when Denisovan teeth and finger bones were first discovered, DNA testing has revealed that the enigmatic hominins were among the ancestors of people alive today in Australia and the Pacific.
But scientists didn’t understand how the Denisovans, whose scant remains had been found only in Siberia and Tibet, would have been able to interbreed with the group of humans who expanded east from Africa through Southeast Asia before reaching Australia, New Guinea and other islands in the Pacific.
Now, the discovery of a girl’s molar in Laos, published on Tuesday in the journal Nature Communications, puts Denisovans right in the path of modern humans who arrived in Southeast Asia tens of thousands of years later. “We knew that Denisovans should be here,” said Laura Shackelford, a paleoanthropologist at the University of Illinois and a co-author of the new study. “It’s nice to have some tangible evidence of their existence in this area.”
Dr. Shackelford joined a team of French and Laotian colleagues on an expedition to the Annamite Mountains in northern Laos in 2008, and they have been digging up fossils ever since. In one of the many caves that riddle the mountains, they have unearthed human skull fragments dating back about 75,000 years, making them the oldest evidence of modern humans in Southeast Asia.

They can’t handle the tooth!
(something ....)
George Washington had wooden teeth, speaking of trees.
Science and guess work straddle a fine fine line. THE science says “mask up.” But objective and unbiased scientific evidence says that masks don’t work. Follow the dollars is a more trustworthy litmus test for the veracity of such claims.

Translation is something happened that maybe means something
Kinda presumptuous to say it belonged to a *girl*.

In the Scopes “monkey” trial, the entire evolutionary theory was based on a tooth. The tooth later turned out to belong to a pig.
“Denisovans could have interbred with the ancestors of modern humans.”
No the Denisovans did interbreed with modern humans, they were a subspecies, sort of like the Key Deer from Florida are just a small, garden variety version of the white-tailed deer.
Look up Melanesia + blue eyes. The blue eyes came from Denisovans. It’s kinda interesting the results, you’ll see blond haired people in Africa, blue eyed people in Africa, white kids with curly, African hair in the Pacific Islands.
Humans in general are not “racially pure”. That does not exist except in some ancient peoples of Africa.
Europeans for instance interbred with dark-skinned peoples who somehow endured the ice age. And they and Asians interbred with Neanderthals.
Ethiopians have a mix of African, European and Asian genes.
So they could have interbred in that cave...sorta like a Cadilac Ranch of caves???
“Hey Joe...love you long time”
Seriously ? 😂😂😂😂😂
Source? A lot of assertions here.
Shackleford? Could it be? A descendant of Ernest, the explorer who took on Antarctica?
There is nothing quite like enormous extrapolation from a single datum.

It’s too late for me to go through all the references. Here is a picture search from duckduckgo.com.
Basically blue eyes in dark skinned people.
The 'could' in that sentence refers to where the interbreeding might have taken place (at least some of it) not that the interbreeding itself is in question.
They are making an assumption that the cave was an attractive den of iniquity to them. Maybe they found a lava lamp in there too.

That should have been DID, Denisovan DNA is found in several modern groups, including the Ojibwa having the most.
Inherited genes known: adaption to high altitudes, adaption to cold.
could have interbred >>>>>>>>>>>>
Obviously hay did not do well in that department or they still would be here. ( Ancient trail signs in a rough gliph were translated to be “My Body, My Choice!”)
It was late and I was tired. Just look up Melanesia + Denisovan on a search engine. It will come up.
