Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

I see the Wordle more as a gauge as to how my brain is functioning. I do crosswords for the same reason. As for judging myself, that died a long time ago. It’s not a question of fun or not — just another tool to help me understand my abilities at a certain time. It could be, if I did it later in the day, the score may be entirely different. For now, it is what it is, and there will be another one tomorrow. So no worries!

Off to the shower!

Will you be having a cook-out today?

I’ll be having a cook-in. As usual. Maybe some chili with cheese and some macaroni salad. Something I don’t have to cook. (The older I get, the harder it is to stand to very long, so I try to keep moving! Or sit.)

Excellent!

Much better than mine, for sure.

Will you be having family over this long weekend?

The schedule says we’ll be having grilled chicken, so I guess that’s “cookout.” We also have leftovers.

No, everyone is pretty much laying low over this weekend... we had some get togethers for birthdays and graduation recently, and planning to get everyone out for Father’s Day coming up...

With the prices of gasoline and diesel, trips need to be very carefully planned...

The Other Folks are in Rome, on their way to Germany, and it doesn’t sound like a fun part of their vacation. However, the stories they can tell!

Later all...

Have a blessed Lord’s Day, all!

This one was NOT easy. (At least not for me.) I started it earlier, went off and did things and came back to it.
