Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

I’m glad you’re OK. You’ve been on my mind all morning. It’s good that there was someone to commiserate with you. <3

That would be awesome for Patrick, to have his own car!

That’s what ours was like. I just barely walked out the door at my FS’s after the birthday party and it was raining pretty hard. A couple of minutes after I got inside, the rain came harder, the lightning hit close by, the rain exploded and the power went off for 30 seconds.

Didn’t last long, though, but the rain was sure ugly for about 30 minutes. Weird stuff, the weather, now.

I’ll send her an email in a few days letting her know how much money Pat has. He could finance it if it’s more. Finding any used car is a challenge these days.

I took Kathleen on errands - bank, library, Walmart - and then I fell over for a while. We have Cub Scouts tonight. The weather is threatening, but it hasn’t done anything to us yet.

Another day when things have been slightly messed up.

Is it because it’s Monday? Or because I wake up so early on Mondays?

I dunno, but I’m thinking everything except laundry needs to be cancelled on Mondays. Weird.

A car would make things so much easier for me...

Yes, it would. Mondays are exhausting for me, too, and I don’t get up as early!

The surprise water that fell here last night was pretty fierce, taking small branches and twigs with it and throwing them to the ground in a tantrum of sorts.

Wow. We didn’t get the theatrical version. At least not this time.

I’m hoping we get more surprise water tonight.

We had some surprise water fall yesterday evening. Mrs. ArGee had just announced she was going to go running and gone outside when I heard some pretty hard-hitting raindrops. Needless to say, she was back inside in a flash.

That *is* a surprise! Good thing Mrs. ArGee hadn’t gotten far from the house.

That little floof will try to nap in that slipper no matter how big he gets!

Good morning. Did you have a good night?

As I thought I would, I slept well, but that’s typical for a Monday night, even with a nap.

I have no plans for today except to go do something with the title for the Problem Child.

I hope he doesn’t wait for too late in the day. It’s a stamina thing with me.

Good morning. Happy Twosday!

The surprise water yesterday and the day before took a few fs off the local temps.

Maybe I’ll be able to run this evening, as in have enough oxygen. I discovered on Sunday, when the temps were unusually warm, that I’ve been managing the entire 3 mi without having to walk mostly because the air was cold enough to supply me with oxygen on every breath. When it was suddenly in the upper 70s I found I couldn’t get enough. I need a more gradual warming.

Good Morning!

We also had a touch of unexpected rain over Sunday into Monday morning... only evidence was a bit collected in a couple of upside-down frisbees, and some on a few flat-low spots on a slab...

Today’s:

I need a more gradual warming.

That's what everyone around here has been saying... we went from highs in the upper 70s, to highs in the low to mid 90s in a flash... and they've stayed up there since...

Got any 5’s?

Some days, the Wordle just doesn’t want to play fair, does it?

Getting there is what counts though, so good job!
