Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

At least Jake is feeling well enough to be a pest again. That’s a good sign!

You’re right about being five minutes behind. It’s a long drop to the floor from two feet up. Lots of things to bonk my head on on the way down.

If I had my own washer I’d be doing a lot more laundry than I am now, for sure! Just because I like clean things.

Our Cubmaster was riding a scooter with the Tiger den on Monday, fell off, and broke his hip. He’s a big guy in his 40s. Good thing they can rebuild hips these days.

We haven’t had any other dogs with seizures. From what I hear about our experience, it’s very mild. There are people whose dogs have multiple seizures per day. But we’d still rather not have any.

Oddly, my M-i-L’s hip healed. Completely. The orthopedist was flabbergasted. He said she healed like a 12-y-o and 88-y-o women just don’t do that. She does have pretty sever arthritis in her hips, though.

We know it was a miracle. Thanks to everyone for your prayers.

Good Wednesday Morning!

ArGee, are seizures like she is having, common to her breed?

I always say that four rows is a respectable showing, ‘Face.

But after this starter word, four rows is a bit shoddy:

Tyson-who-is-not-allowed-on-the-furniture was let out to pee this morning and locked eyes with a bunny 20 ft away.

They did a stare-down for two full minutes.

Then Tyson remembered why he was outside in the fist place, and turned away to find a suitable spot.

The bunny promptly evaporated.

Followed by Tyson’s quick sniff of where the bunny was and a swift return to the warmth of the nully nest.

Our dogs-who-are-not-allowed-on-the-furniture (except for the little Papillon!) often chase rabbits... they never catch them, but sometimes get close!

I hope my bones are still strong enough that I wouldn’t have to worry about a broken hip. It used to be almost a death sentence. But yes, it is a good thing they can rebuild hips!

With no other dogs having seizures, that first one must have been a scary experience for all of you. Hang in there! Prayers are still going up for all of you.

Wonderful news about your M-i-L’s hip healing completely! But then, the Prayer Warriors know how to petition for miracles!

As for me, it’s a pleasure to find some way to be of service. ;o]

When I got to the last row, there was only one word that would fit, Z!

Tyson-who-is-not-allowed-on-furniture, is a good dog, remembering why he was out in the cold.

I have bunny slippers, but I wouldn’t make them available for T-w-i-n-a-o-f. They’d be too expensive to replace. ;o]

The last time Tyson chased a bunny neither one seemed to be in much of a hurry.

Just going through the motions.

She’s a standard poodle. They have a slightly elevated risk of seizures compared to other dogs.

When she had her first I had no idea what was happening. I figured it out right after she returned to normal.

Now it’s just the annoyance of having to give her a bath right after.
