Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

That’s very good! I’m always happy when others do better than I do. Have you been playing the game long?

What a cute floof!

Good morning.

Did you have a good night?

Mine was interrupted several times.

It seems, the sweet little black Binxx, the one who looked so cute in his new bow-tie collar yesterday and the same Binxx for whom the cat stroller is coming today, was playing with his buddy Merlin, chasing him through the house. He slipped, evidently flipped and broke his neck because he died.

Needless to say, FD and The Guy are devastated. Him moreso because he’s a high functioning autistic, and the cat was his therapy cat. They had a unique bond, right from the start.

I have no idea how to even begin to comfort either of them.

Poor little kitteh! I’m so sorry about the loss to your daughter and the guy.

And not bad, thanks. No cat, but lots of trips to the bathroom because of too much lemonade!

I’m always sad when there is a loss, but I also know that animals have souls so they go to heaven and will be ours forever.

I just ordered a card from Amazon because they have “cat loss” cards. I don’t know what else to do. FD has been crying all night and I’m sure The Guy has been doing his fair share.

Yeah, that lemonade works the same way water does on me! I wasn’t up for that last night — I was just up. Insomnia at the beginning and then the loss of Binxx. (I’m sure Merlin is doing his own mourning, but in cat fashion.)

The more a person is emotionally dependent on the pet, the harder any loss is, but especially a surprise such as this. I know we have “declining years” ahead of us, with Shannon’s being 15 years old.

Please share my sympathy with your daughter.

Good morning. Happy Humph Day!

Kitteh can have my humph day if it wants it.

It cooled off a little last night. But otherwise things are plodding along.

My Wordling is very much back to normal.

Since Binxx came into The Guy’s life, The Guy has settled down. I’m sure it’s the black cat’s doing, so I will suggest getting another therapy animal as soon as possible for The Guy. He just lost his sister who had Down Syndrome a few weeks ago, so this loss is very hard for him.

I will pass on your condolences

And now, I’m off to the shower!

I’m sorry to hear about The Guy’s losses. It’s never easy, whether people or pets. Somehow we’re wired to think life won’t change all the time, but it does.

Thanks! I’ll let him know your feelings.

And you’re right. Loss is never easy. I tell people there is no time limit on grief and no right or wrong way to grieve. I hope I can remember what I said the next time I lose someone. ;o]

Once you have eliminated most of the vowels and words that end in s it should be easy. But it is not.

Ain’t that the truth! Good show!

Watering every morning has been a constant for months... only need to water about half of what I started with as so many plants just couldn’t make through the triple digit days.... even with sun shades over them...

They are forecasting possible thunderstorms yielding 1/4” this afternoon... if it verifies, at least it will keep the dust down for a day...
