Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

w00t!

I’m trying to convince Mrs. ArGee that we want to retire further south.

We’ve discovered that the biggest problem we have with this climate is the total lack of insulation in this apartment. Our home in the wildlands has insulation. But it’s still cold when we go out in the winter.

One of my friends who did the one row win doesn’t use a fixed start word either. She just lucked out that day.

That was an amazing stroke of luck!

Many mornings it comes down to: do I feel like an "O" & "I" day, or an "E" & "A" day...

And I suspect, that if you stay with that fixed starter word, it won’t happen again in our lifetimes... unless the Wordle folks have a rather short list of 5 letter words...

I see from the stats that I had a two row solution 3 times...

Most frequently (42/111) I get four row solutions... I’d like to change that to three row solutions before I get to 200 games played...

I find that the 37th parallel and below is good for me. It's the upper limit for avoiding SAD.

I'm above the 39th now. *sigh*

Apparently the Slimes had 2 solutions again today. One of the words was, apparently, unacceptable for delicate ears.

No kidding... that is bizarre... how do they which are the sensitive ears.... or eyes?

🤔

I’ve played 123 games. So far I haven’t bombed any.

1 - 1
2 - 7
3 - 24
4 - 48
5 - 34
6 - 9

There was really no reason for me to have taken 5 today. I thought of the correct word earlier and wasn’t sure the spelling was right. My 4th guess was a really bad choice, but some days are like that.

So, for those who didn’t read the news on it yesterday, the word they had to scramble to remove before it offended anyone was “fetus”.

These are insane times.

That is quite the streak that you’ve got going there!!

Thus far (111 games), I show:

1 - 0
2 - 3
3 - 32
4 - 42
5 - 26
6 - 6

I bombed out on 2, and am currently nursing a 2 game streak!! lol

They aborted the fetus?

Oddly appropriate for the Slimes.

I’m thinking below 40 would be nice. We’re currently above 43 and the wildlands home is just about 40.

If I relocate, I’m considering the Ozarks. Or the north island of New Zealand.

I like the Ozarks. I’ve never been to New Zealand. Watch out for orcs.
