Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

I hate when that happens!

I didn’t do much today but I feel like I wore myself out again. No hurry about getting up in the morning. I hope! It seems I do OK until around noon and then I start to feel very tired.

Maybe it will be over with in another month or two. I hope!

Back from Walmart, where Vlad and I got frozen pizza and exchanged the shorts.

You exchanged shorts for a frozen pizza?

No, I exchanged the shorts for smaller shorts and exchanged money for the pizza.

I may have to put pizza on my list for next week. It’s been calling to me now for several weeks... But the quandary is: Walmart brand or big brand?

It seems every time I make some progress, I do something and undo all the progress I’ve made. I just redoubled the stack of papers to be shredded and made a mess on my living room floor. Unngh.

(Am I ever going to make this place livable?)

Most of these have personal information on them. They need to be shredded. It comes from living at the whims of government agencies.

And so, I’ll be heading for the Blanket Show in a bit. I’ve done about all I can do for one more day. Maybe tomorrow I’ll be able to finish what I started today and get more than just the laundry put away.

How is Jake today? Is he still sluggish? I hope he’s improving, and that Shannon doesn’t tease him any more!

I hope you have a good night!

Jake is improving. He and Shannon both wanted to stay out last night, but I locked up when I got home from Cub Scouts.

What a sweet face!

Good morning.

Did you sleep well?

Did you say when Bill’s approximate date of the move was? I’ve slept since you first said. ;o]

I’m glad Jake is feeling better. He’s just like the rest of us — he doesn’t understand that time takes a toll on us. Our brains tell us we haven’t aged, but our bodies say something else. I’m sure that goes for cats as well.

I slept pretty well, for me. Jake turned up and purred. Bill is moving on May 20th.

So much excitement for Bill! So many things to take care of on both ends of the move. I’m happy for him.

Today, I’ll try to finish what I started yesterday, and hope I’m at least partially successful. I got a slow start and that always means the day is doomed. But we’ll see!

I’ve just had breakfast so now is probably a good time to start!

Frank is the only one of the Offspring to respond to the, “Rise and shine!” call. He’s eating the leftover pizza.
