Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

Good morning. Neighbors set some fireworks off last night, but I was already in bed. The cats don’t like fireworks.

Of course, I’m waiting for the water heater to do it’s thing. I hate to think what time I’ll have to get up when we go back to 0900 services in January.
I’m going to try and go today, because it’s a patriotic Sunday, and I try not to miss those. I always wear red, white and blue. Just because!
Rescue kitten is feeling a bit sad, I think, but he perked up with good nutrition and care.
I had Jake problems last night, along with many trips to the bathroom because of all the lemonade!
There was a thing about what fireworks did to animals and people with PTSD on Facebook yesterday. It’s amazingly frightening. If I can find it I’ll send the link.
Today’s wasn’t as easy as I wanted it to be, but at least it wasn’t X/6!

NextDoor is full of complaints. On the one hand, I sympathize, but on the other hand, do we have to shut down everything fun forever?
Maybe rescue kitten was just a little confused by good treatment and a good supply of food.
I kept feeling like I was awake more than I was asleep. I don’t know how to explain it — it was like skimming over the top of the good sleep with dreams that seemed like an extension of waking life. Not restful at all, even though I only got up once.
Maybe the shower will make me feel better. I hope.
I need to put laundry in the dryer. Then I’ll think about the next thing.
I get that! There have been a few neighborhood fireworks the last few nights, and I’m not used to it. But that’s because I was in an area with drought conditions and the fire danger was such that only official fireworks were allowed on a specific night in a specific area.
The good thing about the fireworks here is that they didn’t last long so I was able to sleep. Sorta.
It was only 15 or 20 minutes here. My difficulties sleeping were cat-related, not fireworks. Zot, Jake is fat!
